Walk past Margaritaville and go down the beach a bit. There you will find a fun place of which I can't remember the name or go on a bit further and you'll come to Jack's Shack. Drinks were a bit more reasonable.

I would suggest Jacks Shack as well. Just a little further walk down the beach. His drinks were in the 5-8 dollar range (not cheap but not as bad as the Margaritaville tourist trap)

He also sells some good food. We had the jerk chicken and it was VERY tasty!

Went to Jack's Shack and the Local Bar (which was the best) cheap drinks and food, there was a guy there offering island tours for $10 a person, didn't do it but some other people did said it was ok it is just past Margaritaville. The drinks and food are MV are very expensive!! Not much else to do unless you do an excursion.

We were there in April the 16oz margarita was 20.00 after tax and tip. The tip is included with all of the drinks. The refill for the cup was 12.00 after tax and tip. The 8oz was 10.00 with no refill. Hope this helps! :)

We took a long, long walk to Jack's Shack... Too long of a walk.. but a nice walk. We got there had our free Rum shot took a look inside and left. No big deal as people make out to be. We went back to MV and had lunch, hubby & daughter had beer & I had lemonade. I think you can google MV Grand Turks and check out the menu.

If you go on line to jacksshack.tc, you can sign up for a free shot of local rum. There's a tab at the top of the page. I think it says, "free rum". It's worth the walk for a local beach experience. You can still hit Margaritaville on the way back to the ship. :)

I guess everyone's opinion differs. I wouldn't describe it as a long walk at all, let alone a long, long walk.

I just looked on Google Earth to make sure my mind wasn't fuzzy but it isn't that long of a walk (unless you have mobility issues) If you do then yeah i might take a cab, cant imagine it would cost much.

It is only about a 10 minute walk at the most from Jack's Shack up to Margaritaville. When we dive in GT, we always get dropped off near Jack's and walk up the beach to the cruise port. Not a big deal unless you have mobility issues.

Was there on Thursday. The yard margarita was $15.90 for 22 ounces; refills were $9.95. This is before an 11% tax and a 15% automatic gratuity and for house tequila. Regular sized margaritas/daquiris were around $8-9.

Just visited Grand Turk on May 16, 2012. This was my 3rd visit in 12 months. We've done Jack's Shack before and it really didn't (imho) live up to all the hype. The drinks were only slightly cheaper than M'ville....still very pricey. This past time we tried the Local Village Bar. It was better than Jack's in price. The local Turks Head Beer was $3.50 ($4 incl. tax). Coronas were $5 each. Small place, played some island music, free chairs and umbrellas, free wifi, shaded seating near the bar on picnic tables. One con for this place was that it took forever to get a drink. There was only one bartender there and it took a long time to get served. On the way back we stopped at the Crew Bar. If you are walking from the pier this place is right past the Carnival section of the beach before you get to the Local Village Bar. I met the owner. Her name is Marissa and she's originally from Ottawa but now resides in GT. She owns the property to the left, right, and behind the Crew Bar which includes another bar, a hotel, and they are in the process of building a huge wooden ship which will be a casino and is scheduled to open this summer. The Crew Bar offers free chairs and umbrellas, a volleyball court, and free use of their pool and floaties. We LOVED this place and would highly recommend it! We paid $22 for a beer and a mixed drink at M'Ville. At the Crew Bar we paid $23 for a round of 5 drinks (2 rum punch, heinekin, coors lite, and 1 rum and coke). They played current dance music and had 3 bartenders working. We had the pool to ourselves. Definitely try this place out! We drank here til noon and then headed over to M'Ville for the rest of the afternoon. Here are some pics:

We spent the majority of the day, last month, at Margaritaville, but did venture down to jacks shack for an hour or so. The main reason for Jacks was to see Topher the dog, and eat the BEST jerked chicken in the world!!! :). Our cup of tea leaned toward Margaritaville. Loved the huge pool, jimmy buffet music all day and swim up pool bar. To each their own. Either way, you will have a great time. Just an FYI, when they bring your tab at Margaritaville, keep in mind that the tip is already included. We didn't know that, nor did we look at the receipt. So our $200 tab turned into $240:eek::eek:

It WAS a long walk to Jacks, no shade, and the water was not as nice as the water by M-Ville. (murky sea weed etc) We found a broken glass bottle in the water and some rusty wire as well. The drinks were a little less than at M-ville though, and the jerk chicken, OMG to die for.

Nothing is going to be cheap in Grand Turk since it is an island and everything has to be imported in....

but it is beautiful and a great place to bar hop...now there is more than just MVille and Jacks'.

Considering the beach and pool are free that doesn't sound all that bad. Of course, cheaper is better :)

I would tell you, like the others are, to walk down the beach to Jack's Shack and enjoy drinks that are cheaper, and the atmosphere is quite nice and fun. The service and ability to get a drink quick is really nice. I waited around 30 minutes AT THE BAR, waiting for a bartender to get to me for me to order a drink. We ended up ordering two drinks each and that was around $21 or so for two drinks. There was two bartenders and at least a dozen patrons waiting to order that they would serve whomever was in front of them, so if you didn't get their attention right away, you waited and waited and waited....

Jack's Shack--it took perhaps five minutes to get drinks for the three of us and it was $6 for a drink at the time (Jan of 2011)

Ok so jacks shack for jerked chicken, local bar for drinks, m-ville for ambiance ... That about the consensus? I'm really excited for this trip we have only been to Nassau and Freeport before. Now we will see Grand Turk, and Half Moon Cay.

Been to GT and a fine place.

Last time found it was easy to go back to the ship for lunch and lido was empty.
