Carnival Miracle Questions

I posted this in another thread, but I think it might have been lost in the fray...so if you've already read my questions, I apologize in advance ;)

I was hoping people who had been aboard the Miracle could answer a few questions for me. I've tried searching online but can't really find out too much info--

1. How is the fitness center? Do they have a good variety of equipment? Are there certain times I should avoid ging?

2. Can you play tennis on board?

and lastly

3. How is the nightlife? I am going in May with 5 other friends (all female), we all like to go out and dance and have fun. Will the nightclub be our best bet? What kind of music/crowd does it have? I'm assuming it depends somewhat on where you are leaving from, in this case it's NYC.

Thanks in advance for any help :p

I was on the Miracle in December, so I'll try to help.

I thought the fitness center was great - definitely not a hotel fitness center. There are several pieces of cardio equipment, free weights, weight machines, BOSUs, exercise balls, etc. I had late dinner, and I'd usually go around 5 when the early dinner people were getting ready. This way I could still clean up and enjoy a pre-dinner cocktail.

I'm 95% sure you cannot play tennis on board. There's a track, ping-pong, golf put area, but I don't think there's tennis.

Not sure how old you are, but I'm 30, and most of the people in their 20s and early 30s went to Dr Frankenstein's disco after midnight. They play typical club music - hip hop, dance mixes, etc. They're supposed to have themes some nights (disco, 80s), but I never noticed the DJ complying. I mentioned something to one of the social hosts one night when he was in the disco (I thought it was 80s night?), and he seemed irritated the DJ wasn't playing what was listed in the Capers - said he was going to have a chat with him. The disco stays open until 3 or 4, depending on how many people are there. The Miracle also had a couple fun deck parties with conga lines, electric slide, and that type of thing.

There were not a lot of people our age on my sailing, but I went at the beginning of December. I actually went by myself because my friends didn't have vacation time left, and I was trying to use mine up! I would think your sailing would have more our age, though it's hard to say. Although there weren't a ton of people our age, we all found each other and had a blast! Dinner, show, casino, Frankensteins, Lido for pizza, then to bed, was the routine most nights!

I was on the Miracle in September and it was very subdued. Nights were dead. We spent most of our time in the casino since nothing else was going on. You'd walk past the discos, etc., and there would be 5 people in there. I don't know if it was the itinerary (four back to back ports, which was somewhat tiring) or the group on board or the layout of the ship, but it was quite mellow. The piano bar was always hopping though, and that was really fun.

We had a lot of fun, don't get me wrong, but it was MUCH quieter than my cruise on the Conquest.

I'm wondering if the Miracle out of NY will be a little bit more lively? We are sailing her on June 4th. I don't need a constant party, party, party, but I would hope for a bit of nightlife.

My Miracle itinerary was 4 port days in a row, so it was hectic and tiring. I think that contributed to the "a little less lively" night scene. However, I met great people and we made our own parties. We partiers found other partiers and had a blast! With an 8 day cruise with 4 sea days, you'll likely have livelier night life. Regardless, you'll have fun!

The amount of nite life on any cruise is inversely proportional to the age of the passengers.

On longer cruises, and during the school year(also from Florida ports) the cruisers tend to be older( and less nite life)( after all ---after late dinner ,followed by the show, who's up for nite life)

I was somewhat surprised at the lack of nitelife on the Miracle,, but the deck party was good.

I was on this same sailing (1/21) and I found that the majority of the passengers were the over 65 crowd...nevertheless, we were able to make our own fun even if we were the only ones in the piano bar at 1 AM!:p I also think that besides the age of the passengers, the port intensive itinerary sends most people to bed earlier.

I'm on the Miracle out of NYC May 19th and I know this is tricky time of year, being at the tail end of the school year, so no one is taking their kids out of school, college age will be in finals, so i'm curios as to what kind of 'crowd' there will be. I'm 28 and I'm sailing with my mother, 52, we both are very active and are hoping for a fun and active crowd.

I sailed on the Miracle Jan.28th this year. It did seem like a mostly older crowd. But we went to Frankie and Johnnies most nights and had a good time dancing in there. They had a band in there that could play just about anything you'd want to dance too!! It wasn't like most Carnival cruises, but its a great ship, and we had a great time!:)

My husband (27) and I(25) were on the Miracle Sep 05. The first night we went to the Frankenstein and thought the music was pretty good.It was a nice variety, the dj had a little bit of everything (salsa,merengue,pop,hip/hop,reggae and r&b). I believe the next night we went and it was the same exact thing. Overall, I thought it was pretty fun.I got scolded for taking off my shoes on the dance floor.hehe...anyway, the crowd was a nice mix, people of all ages.I was very surprised and everyone seemed to enjoy themself.

I think you will find that it will be a younger crowd. College should be out by the 19th, and since the Miracle will be fairly new to NYC and the prices are cheaper in May than the summer months it is a very attractive sailing. The winter month cruises out of FLA tend to have a higher percentage of seniors...I bet you won't find that in May. If you are looking for a good time you will have it no matter what!:)

I guess I am hoping that as it's sailing later during the year and out of NY rather than Florida, there's a good "younger" crowd on board. Regardless, since I'm going with 5 other people who are all my age we'll just make our own party!

Hi -- we just got off the Miracle yesterday (blah -- back to real life  ) and we definitely had an senior/older crowd on board.

BUT there was also a group of college guys/gals on an early spring break trip and believe me they had a blast. EVERYWHERE they went they were partying and having a great time. Heck I had a great time just sitting back and watching them and sipping whatever the drink of the day was :D myself. DH and I are in our mid 30s and traveling with our DD so our partying time was limited but believe me those unemcumbered with children who needed to sleep at night had all kinds of fun. Just watch the hangover, one poor guy missed Cozumel altogether because he spent the day in his cabin throwing up from all the partying the night before!

You and your friends will have a fabulous time even if the ship is low key that week!

Thanks everyone for your posts, very helpful. I'm from Massachusetts and I will be going on my honeymoon on this cruise and hope & expect that it will be a lot of fun. Good to hear that other people our age are going on the cruise. Occasionally I'll find a gray hair or two that needs plucking, but not enough to be playing peanuckle on the deck! Hopefully the dance club will be full each night, makes for a better time hanging out....

just remember that the disco NEVER gets going before 10 - when they throw the younger teens out - and most nights it cranks up at 12 and goes past 2 or 3...

People go to late comedy shows, or the karaoke bar, or the cover band bar before that. And, the crew members never seem to show up until after the late show - but they do show up eventually.
