Have you received a survey regarding smoking from Celebrity via email?

We got our survey today and I did it immediately. They gave you a paragraph about a new smoking policy which included no smoking in cabins, no smoking in the already designated areas and they also included the Rendevous Lounge. Can't remember the rest but it looks like everyone will be getting the survey.

They also provided a space for your input and I did. At least it looks like Celebrity is seriously looking into the smoking policies on board. My biggest beef is that the "rules" are not enforced. While we would love all non-smoking, that is not feasible or fair. No smoking in the cabins and on balconies would make us really happy since the odor travels and makes some balconies unusable.

Anyway, took the survey, answered the question and we'll see what, if anything changes. We're sailing in March so it should be interesting.

The Rendevous lounge would be great as that is a direct corridor for before/after dinner and people tend to congregate there waiting.

The other lounges are more of a destination point for a drink, etc.

I really wish on the new ship builds they would just put in massive ventilation. However with smoking rates dropping they probably feel rules are cheaper in the long run.

Now as you said they just need to enforce policy.

While I love well-ventilated rooms and airplanes, there are no ventilation systems that successfully rid a room of smoke. You can still smell it and feel it in the air, in your hair, on your clothes, burning your eyes, see the air filled with smoke, etc.

Banning smoking i public places has been a touchy issue over the last few years. In places where it has been enacted, there has really not been a decrease in patronage of restaurants (there has been some decrease in certain bars).

If all non-smoking cruises were offered it would cause some people not to sail but it would likely open a whole new group of people who just cannot tolerate smoke.

I'm so sorry I didn't save mine either! I don't have any idea who gets one or if everyone gets one. We've taken two Celebrity Cruises and we have a third coming up in March 2008.

The survey had a lot of questions where you had to give a rating based on a scale. I remember many questions about if there should be smoking onboard at all, or on certain decks, or on balconies, or in the casino, or in bars, or in the rooms (things like that). Then, it asked if I was a smoker, my age, number of cruises I've taken, and, of course, the comments section.

I am not a smoker and on our last cruise we really had a tough time because we had cigar and cigarette smokers on either side of us. The smoke blew on to our balcony day and night.

This time we are booking a corner aft and a balcony next to the corner aft so that we'll hopefully eliminate this problem, at least partially.

We spend a large portion of our cruise on the balcony, and personally, I hate the smoke. It literally makes me ill.

However, that said, I don't think it's realistic to expect all ships to be totally smoke-free. In my opinion, I think that smoking should be allowed on a few decks, and in some bars, but that's about the only places it should be allowed. Again, that's my opinion.

Take it or leave it!

But, it was nice that Celebrity asked!

We received an email yesterday with a link to a survey from Celebrity regarding smoking onboard. Has anyone else received one?

I really enjoyed being asked!

No, we didn't receive it. But we never receive emails from Celebrity. Although I selected this option in the "my Celebrity" section on their website.

No survey as yet, but I did put a BIG note on my rating card when leaving last Friday. The smoking was all over the place and I left the Casino a few times when it got to be too much. I think they should have some allocated space for smokers but restrictions should be enforced. Never should someone have to be in a cabin next to a smoker if they don't smoke. It carries right over. Hopefully my next trip will be better. Still loved the cruise.

What does a dinner dress code have to do with a smoking survey?

I'm confused.

AND I QUOTE:

It is our intention to cater to the wants and needs of our guests, and at this time we have found that a majority of our guests approve and support the onboard smoking guidelines.

?????

I'm not surprised.

From the post I see out here X appears to be the line of choice for the hard core smoker.
