GE Mom Posted December 31, 2004 #1 Share Posted December 31, 2004 We'll be staying in San Juan one day before our cruise on the Golden Princess January 9(!), and wondered whether the drinking water is safe. I checked the EPA website and see that there have been numerous violations involving coliform bacteria and other contaminants in the drinking water, and that seems to indicate that we'd be better off with bottled water. Does anyone have advice on this matter? We don't want the Puerto Rican version of Montezuma's revenge just as we set sail!

Rubia_Boricua_PR Posted January 15, 2005 #3 Share Posted January 15, 2005 In Puerto Rico is safe to drink the water unless there's an issue at that time but you can always drink bottled water. You can never compare Mexico's, Dominican Republic, etc with Puerto Rico's water.
GE Mom Posted January 18, 2005 Author #4 Share Posted January 18, 2005 Thanks. We did go ahead and drink the water -- because we found a bunch of American Airlines crew checking in ahead of us and I asked one of the pilots, who assured me it was fine. He made the same point, that San Juan is ok. But if you go to the EPA website, you can see they have some 'issues'.
