Drinking Water in San Juan?

GE Mom

Recommended Posts

We'll be staying in San Juan one day before our cruise on the Golden Princess January 9(!), and wondered whether the drinking water is safe. I checked the EPA website and see that there have been numerous violations involving coliform bacteria and other contaminants in the drinking water, and that seems to indicate that we'd be better off with bottled water. Does anyone have advice on this matter? We don't want the Puerto Rican version of Montezuma's revenge just as we set sail!

Thanks. We did go ahead and drink the water -- because we found a bunch of American Airlines crew checking in ahead of us and I asked one of the pilots, who assured me it was fine. He made the same point, that San Juan is ok. But if you go to the EPA website, you can see they have some 'issues'.
