cdkempton Posted September 3, 2009 #1 Share Posted September 3, 2009 We're leaving Sitka for Hubbard Glacier. The weather has been fantastic. We've been enjoying the 2 fers in the Piano Bar each night before our 8 o'clock fixed sitting. HAL has finally enriched the cruising experience by offering these "happy hours". The 4:30-5:30 one is o.k. for those eating early but for us eating at 8:00, the 2 for 1 martini in the Piano bar is just right. :):p They are 7 - 8 o'clock. Cheers!!!!! brucory Posted September 3, 2009 #2 Share Posted September 3, 2009 Glad to hear you are enjoying your trip and the martini happy hour. Perfect solution for later diners... Hope the weather stays just as good for the rest of your trip on the beautiful Ryndam!!! :D:D:D
Krazy Kruizers Posted September 3, 2009 #3 Share Posted September 3, 2009 Glad you are enjoying your Alaskan cruise. That would be nice if they had Happy Hour on all the ship from 7 - 8 -- or as in your case -- Martini time.
sylteach Posted September 4, 2009 #4 Share Posted September 4, 2009 Hope to see you on the Ryndam for the southbound trip. Since we did not get up a meet & greet maybe we will see you in the piano bar. My daughter mentioned to me on the plane she wants to go there in the evenings. If you see a upper 50's "chubby" lady with short curly hair with a tall 28 year old daughter with shoulder-length hair there please introduce yourself. oliverbc Posted September 4, 2009 #5 Share Posted September 4, 2009 How nice to know you are having a great time. We have started our packing.
cdkempton Posted September 4, 2009 Author #6 Share Posted September 4, 2009 Sure has been great weather so far. I hope it continues. I'll keep the good thoughts coming for the rest of you. Hubbard was really awesome. Tons of calving. Can't wait to see it again. Cheers!
Krazy Kruizers Posted September 4, 2009 #7 Share Posted September 4, 2009 Hubbard is our favorite glacier -- so blue -- and lots of calving. Thanks for checking in. Glad you are having good weather.
papadave Posted September 5, 2009 #8 Share Posted September 5, 2009 We were on the Ryndam for 14 days approximately a month ago. I wish we were on it again already. If you don't have plans in Seward I highly recommend taking one of the longer boat tours. There are 3 (or more) tour operators which offer the same tour, lasting around six hours and taking you very close to a glacier that is almost always calving. You will also (probably) see humpback whales, sea otters, puffins, sea lions and other wildlife. Enjoy the rest of your trip!
sevenseasnomad Posted September 5, 2009 #9 Share Posted September 5, 2009 You bring back memories of our lovely Alaska cruise. Know you are having a ball. Wish you good sailing and wonderful memories. (Boy, am I envious!)
oliverbc Posted September 7, 2009 #10 Share Posted September 7, 2009 We leave for Vancouver in 3 days. We are hoping we can just book a local trip on the dock. We still do not know what cabin we will have for the second half but hope this long delay is something good.
oliverbc Posted September 7, 2009 #11 Share Posted September 7, 2009 I should have said the pier in Seward. It sounded as if I meant Vancouver. Silly me.
notes4theheart Posted September 7, 2009 #12 Share Posted September 7, 2009 glad you're having a great time! We just got off her about 10 days ago. Have you been onboard since the 28th? If so, I have a few pictures of her sailing past stanley park and under the bridge (we wanted to say goodbye) that I'd be happy to share. If you wouldn't mind doing me a favor, when we left, we never got to say goodbye to our favorite lido bar steward. His name is Michael. So, if you see him, can you tell him that Jeff and Jennifer say Good-bye? (and grab a picture if you wouldn't mind terribly :o)
