beachbum6264 Posted November 8, 2009 Author #126 Share Posted November 8, 2009 I'm bringing this to the top because; 1. It is one of my favorite reviews of the Legend which we will be on in 91 days. 2. Those who missed it the first time around now have a chance to see it. 3. Last, but not least, we all want to hear from Beachbum6264 how the knee surgery went and how the recovery period is going for you. We know the scrapbook must be almost finished. Love your pictures ! Thank You!!!! Glad you enjoyed the review. 91 days... I'm jealous - but at least I'm down to less than 300 now!!! Knee surgery ... hmmm, not my favorite way to spend time! But, it's over, and I'm on the mend. I have PT at home 3 days a week and it seems as tho I'm ahead of the curve (for those that know what I mean I can bend to 118 now, and less than -2 on the straight). I had all 33 staples taken out on Wednesday (OUCH!!!), glad that is over. Between PT and exercising on my own, going to hospital for blood tests twice a week (blood thinners) and napping I've actually got some done on the scrapbook. I've got it all planned out, and about 1/4 of the pages done. I've had a bad case of cabin fever - made my dh take me out to lunch today (under threat of severe bodily harm - that cane can come in handy!!!) beachbum6264 Posted November 10, 2009 Author #130 Share Posted November 10, 2009 What a great review! Thanks for sharing your vacation!! The DOD card - I assume it is for the drink of the day? How much does it cost and where do you get them? Yep, for the Drink of the Day - doesn't have to be THAT day, you can have Funship Specials all week - or if you are ME, Blue Margaritas! The card was somewhere around $25 - $26 - you can get them at most bars, I bought mine at the lobby bar when we first boarded. I've heard they may be being discontinued, tho. I hope that's not true, saving a couple of bucks is always a good thing.

Glad the surgery went so well..I am soooooooooooo impressed that you can bend to 118 degrees already...I think it took me forever to get there...you are doing sooooo well..and lord the "ouch" with the staple removal..are you sure it was just ouch:D..I was in tears and wanted to "smack" the person taking them out...and all the while my wonderful husband is saying..it doesn't hurt me a bit.....make sure that you rub the incision back and forth so that you won't get any adhesions...they had me do this every day, twice a day, after the staples came out and it really did make a difference in the long run...I also here you about the cabin fever...I could get out on the deck but it really was nice to get out and just take a ride...something to look at besides four walls.. glad you are on the mend..now you can REALLY enjoy your next cruise... loltastic Posted February 1, 2011 #132 Share Posted February 1, 2011 Hello, I just found and read your review and I enjoyed it immensely. I'll be on the legend this fall so I love reading reviews. My question for you is how are you doing after your knee surgery now? My husband needs his knee done and will be having it after our cruise as well. I'll be on the legend this fall so I love reading reviews. My question for you is how are you doing after your knee surgery now? My husband needs his knee done and will be having it after our cruise as well. Thanks for asking. I'm doing GREAT!! The knee replacement was a success, I'm walking with no limp for the first time in years. I'm glad I did it. We're booked on the Legend again for the end of August, going with some friends. Can't wait. Hope you have a wonderful time, his knee will be ready for the next cruise!
Sallyjv Posted March 12, 2011 #134 Share Posted March 12, 2011 What is the DOD card good for and how much does it cost?
beachbum6264 Posted March 12, 2011 Author #135 Share Posted March 12, 2011 What is the DOD card good for and how much does it cost? I don't think they even have those anymore, too bad. It WAS good for any Drink Of the Day, and it didn't have to be "that" day, so I could drink Blue Margaritas every day and save a few bucks. They didn't last long, I think I got one on 2 different cruises, they may have been in the same year.
Neotericisis Posted March 12, 2011 #136 Share Posted March 12, 2011 Beach Bum- you inspired me! I cruise in a month for the first time and I want to do something like this (hope I can stick to it, still haven't finished the wedding scrapbook LOL). This made me REALLY HAPPY!! You have given a great joy to those waiting to get their S&D card LOL. As always- happy sailing!:)

mimgan3 Posted March 12, 2011 #140 Share Posted March 12, 2011 Great review, made me feel I was there, we are doing the Legend next March, and Belize and Roatan are two ports I have not been too, but your pics tell me, this should be a good choice. I hope all goes well with you knee surgery, and that recovery is swift and successful. Mimgan

First of all - I LOVED your review! I'm an amateur writer - paralegal by trade who happens to have a literature degree. I am SO critical about if I can actually read a review. Mostly...I look at the pictures. But...I LOOOOVED your writing! I literally laughed out loud. My husband and I are going on the Legend in May. It's our first week-long vacation away from our 3 year old since getting married 3 years ago...coincidence...? But, he's a virgin sailor too! Thanks for the great sneak peek! -Ashley (& Blake...he'll thank me later when I plan an awesome trip!)

Isaac Dawg Posted March 28, 2011 #145 Share Posted March 28, 2011 We were on the Legend in May, 2010 and loved it. Your review was a wonderful revisit of that cruise. We have a timeshare in Sarasota and normally will stop at the Christmas Shop on Gulf to Bay and look at their wonderful Dept. 56 displays, so I have been through your old stomping grounds several times. I sent my wife the name explanation for Norma. We call ours Betty Boop for the noise it makes. Bill
twylla29 Posted July 12, 2011 #146 Share Posted July 12, 2011 Fair warning: If you have any (even minor) fear of urns, then this is NOT the ship for you… warning: upcoming urn photos, turn back now, you have been warned:There are small urns bigger urns bigger urns BIGGER urns and REALLY big urns Somewhere, sometime, there was a huge sale on urns and someone stocked up. I get the “legend” part of all the rest of the décor, but the urn part escapes me. Once we have successfully gotten through all the urns, it’s off to the Lido deck for food. I didn’t take all the “food porn” pictures I usually take, but the food was pretty good all week. Embarkation day is the only time we ate a meal at the buffet – I’m a teacher and have had enough of carrying a tray at lunch time!! I had a sandwich and a salad, dh hit the Asian food. All is good. One stop on the way to the cabin, for those who have asked if the Legend has the DOD cards, here’s your answer: how do you get a DOD card and how to know which terminal your boat will be in
beachbum6264 Posted July 12, 2011 Author #147 Share Posted July 12, 2011 how do you get a DOD card and how to know which terminal your boat will be in Sadly, the DOD card is no more (insert sad music here). :( For some reason they have done away with these. Oh well. If you sail from Tampa you will see where your ship is.... and I think there is only 1 place to go.... but I could be wrong..., it's happened before. ETA: if you're driving, just follow the crowd! Smooth sailing

KRW71 Posted August 24, 2011 #149 Share Posted August 24, 2011 We stopped downtown to do a little shopping – I have quit buying “stuff” from every port – I have enough t-shirts to last me a life time. Now I buy refrigerator magnets from every port and every ship. We may have to get a bigger fridge, tho! We did have to stop for the must have shot (come on – you know you have the same picture!!!) Then back on the tender and back to the ship Yep, I set off the metal detector again! So if you were behind me, I’m sorry! I’m sure they know you CAN smuggle stuff in braces and other orthopedic things (there was a guy around here that smuggled some fried chicken and a bottle of Jack Daniels into jail…. In his artificial leg!! True story) At least I know they are doing their job. I understand it won’t get any better with the knee replacement – I’m gonna set them off the rest of my life. It’s up on deck to watch us sail away…. with a strawberry and vanilla swirl yogurt cone. The show tonight was balancing (Lubo) and comedy (JR McCollom) – it was OK, nothing really stands out in my mind, other than wondering how much the assistant to the balancing act gets paid! Towel animal for tonight: all I have to say about that one is that after a few drinks it seemed really funny! (and showing this picture to friends it turns out you really don’t need the alcohol to have the same reaction!!) Cozumel in the morning, more beach for me! Love your review. My 2 year old son was looking at the pictures with me naming thigs: "boat, drink, etc" he saw this picture and said "pee pee"
