I was there on my last cruise, 1.5 years ago. It's right across from where you tyender in, like right across, can't miss it!!! I did read a few months ago that it has not been open b/c of the hurricane, but I can't verify that. Maybe someone else knows...

HRC is very close to the tender docks - less than a block. A little further down is a Harley shop that is open, I believe. You'll see the Atlantis biz to the right of where the tenders dock and HRC is across the street.

It was closed last I was in GC and is not supposed to reopen until March 2005. But who knows?

Actually the website just says Spring, 2005:

It is the only HRC where you can get tshirts with stingrays on them! I got mine a while ago.

I am a HRC pin collector and they info that I have says it should be reopening in the Spring, but not when. Things in the islands move much slower -- ie The Ritz-Carlton on GC took 4-5 years to build!

Is the store open? We're leaving on our cruise next week and I was hoping to be able to get t-shirts. I was disappointed when I heard they were going to be closed until spring so it's good news to hear that they're open earlier than expected.:)

When we were at the HRC in Grand Cayman last year, I had the best "foo foo" drink. It came out of one of those icy drink machines (the ones that rotate). It tasted like a chocolate shake but it had coffee flavoring added to it.

Has anyone else had it? The bartender told me how to make it but I forgot most of the ingredients. If anyone knows the recipe, I'd be grateful if you'd pass it along. Thanks!

FYI - The prices on the menu are GC currency - so expect your bill to be more if you are paying by US currency or Credit Card (rate was $1.25 to the dollar when we were there - so about 25% more). It was a little shock - plus they automatically added in the tip - it's in small print at the bottom of the menu. I didn't notice until after I paid the bill or I would have reduced the tip - the waitress was horrible - never checked on us once - until it was time to pay.

To buy t shirts at HRC...is that payable in Grand cayman currency also?

Does anyone know if they have larger sizes (2x) in the t-shirts?

Also, someone mentioned that there is a Harley shop just a little farther down...how much farther down? My husband really wants a t shirt from the Harley shop..

Thanks

I don't know for sure, but I can't imagine they wouldn't have XXL tshirts. That would be un-American. ;)

There is a Harley shop less than a block away.

They go up to 5XL.

You can see both from the tender dock - Harley mostly obscured by the Atlantis shop, but you can see the top of the building.

The last time I was there, they did not honor the AAA card for the discount. The didn't even honor the Pincollectors card FROM Hard Rock! They now honor the pincollectors card, but I don't know about the AAA.

The Harley Shop is just a few doors down, if I remember correctly. Everything is clustered pretty much around the tender area, so you should be able to find it without too much problem.

Don't forget the rum cakes!

most every store in Georgetown takes Cayman or US dollars, but they almost always give change back in Cayman, so make sure you bring some 10s and 20s so you won't get too much change. You could always use it up before you leave by buying sodas or snacks somewhere. You can charge almost anywhere.

We were at the HRC Grand Cayman RIGHT before the hurricane hit last fall. They do indeed sell XXL t-shirts because we bought one. :)

Our friends wanted to eat there last week. Only options on the menu were turkey sandwich or ham sandwich each for $9.00. They passed and we all made our purchases and left. Not sure why they didn't have more of a menu, but thought we would let you know.

I have read that they haven't really recovered from the hurricanes this last summer. Probably the reason as they have a rather extensive menu normally.
