will we really see much foilage?

[Excited to go crusing]

we are doing the NE tour in October, stopping at Halifax, St John's, Bar Harbor, Boston & Newport.

We have planned on going to Acadia Park in Maine on the bus, & doing the Hoho in Boston, meeting friends in Halifax. Will we really see much of the leaf colors, or can someone make suggestions?

After you get on that site there is a button titled foliage, click on that it will give you a map of the NE. Not sure how accurate it is though. We are leaving the week before you so I hope we get some leaf color.

thank you, the site looks interesting. but I guess what I am really asking is will we need to hire a car or go on leaf tour to see the leaf colors or will we see it in Acadia Park & other places we visit? COlr me confused :confused:

You will see foliage on the bus tour through Acadia for sure. You will see some in Boston too...especially in and around Boston Common. Also, there will be some color in Newport as well. Can't speak about the Canadian ports. I've never done a New England cruise, but I live here. ;)

What is the best time to see fall foliage?

The leaves start turning to fall colors in September, but the peak time is usually mid-October—anywhere from the first week to the third week of the month. The state of Maine provides foliage information http://www.maine.gov/doc/foliage/

Trees are already starting to change here. It feels like falls today ... think we will probably have a frost. Columbus Day weekend is usually a good time for leave peeping ... You should be fine for when you are in the Maine area.

 

Don't think you would see any more colors if you rented a car (In Bar Harbor) than you would to go on a tour. Jan

thank you so much, I am so looking forward to seeing:D the colors, I grew up in Europe, where we had changing colors but, living in California, they are evergreen, I miss the seasons, so this will be great:D
