Janice M Posted September 17, 2009 #28 Share Posted September 17, 2009 Glad you enjoyed the report! Actually, the sea days can be as relaxing or as active as you want - there is so much do to the ship - lectures, dance lessons, sports, socialising, wine tastings, etc. Or you can just lay around the pool and read a good book. Lots of people kiss the Blarney stone and most live to tell about it. Don't let me scare you off.:D livylotte: loved the "wind" jammer reference. Can I use that sometime?;) batoryfirst: Thanks for your comments - no book. We have put off driving down to Panama City Beach, but that was before I knew about the beer hall! hypo: I saw that after it was to late to edit. This is similar to another review I wrote and in describing the public rooms I left out the "L". If any of the hosts read this I sure would appreciate it if you could give me a space!:D Thanks for the memories. We were on this TA with you. Was'nt Joff our cruise director the greatest? SailorJack Posted September 17, 2009 Author #29 Share Posted September 17, 2009 The review was so good I thought I was actually on this cruise with you.:) Oh wait, I was.:D Great to sail with you and Sailor Jill, Jack. Good line...I use the "Oh, Wait" line myself:D Janice M....I hope you enjoyed the cruise as much as SailorJill and I did. We are considering doing it again next year with the two stops in Iceland. SailorJack Posted September 18, 2009 Author #37 Share Posted September 18, 2009 (edited) Wonderful wonderful reviewI am crying with laughter :D How long do we have to wait until your next cruise? Thanks for your kind words. We just finalized our next cruise yesterday and as you can tell from my new countdown clock, we leave on HAL's Noordam on November 1. I don't know if there will be enough material on a 10 day cruise to warrant a "review", but we are looking forward to some warm Caribbean sun in November. xznwfd Posted September 18, 2009 #40 Share Posted September 18, 2009 I am not making this up - your review was the highlight of my week! Thanks so much for the wonderful laughs (although I personally would rate Keith Richards above Giant's Causeway as top ancient wonder of the UK. But that's just me.) petesweet Posted September 19, 2009 #42 Share Posted September 19, 2009 Local lore has it that the island was named “Iceland” to scare off ancient immigrants. The idea being that when Sven and Gjertrud, whoresided well above the Arctic Circle, decided to retire to a warmer clime, they would look at the map and decide that “Greenland” sounded so much more preferable than “Iceland”. I'm not sure you are allowed to discuss "whoresiding" on these boards, SailorJack!:D Other than that, I'm loving your review so far. Kathy
coka Posted September 19, 2009 #43 Share Posted September 19, 2009 (edited) Read on NCL board you just returned. What a treat to read another SailorJack review! You cracked me up so hard I had coffee coming out my nose. I will have to remind myself to not be drinking anything when I read your future HAL report. I can only imagine... Thanks again SailorJack! coka Edited September 19, 2009 by coka

Kathy If I had deliberately set out to get an "R" rating I could not have come up with this! I keep hoping a host will edit this for me, but so far no help:cool: Coka: HAL is only a 10 day cruise so I don't know if I will get enough material for a review for that cruise...we'll see:)

7leagueboots Posted September 22, 2009 #47 Share Posted September 22, 2009 Young men often do extraordinarily stupid things when they want to impress a young woman and you may be somewhat surprised to know that I occasionally fell into that category…and Cherbourg, unfortunately, reminds me of one of those times. I was dating SailorJill (well, she wasn’t actually SailorJill at the time) and wanted to impress her with my continental sophistication, so I took her to see a romantic movie that is often called the most beautiful movie ever made - entitled Umbrellas of Cherbourg starring Catherine Deneuve. Ok, now you win...I have to rent the movie. You said your next cruise is on Holland America. Any more RCI cruises planned?

Your line about renting the movie reminded me of a song by Chris De Burg -"Don't Pay the Ferryman": On the water. And then the ferryman said, "There is trouble ahead, So you must pay me now," - "Don't do it!" "You must pay me now," - "Don't do it!":D:D No RCI tours booked yet, but we are considering doing a repeat of the Jewel t/a next year and are also looking at a cruise on the Explorer of teh Seas in January...but nothing definite yet. weary traveler Posted September 23, 2009 #49 Share Posted September 23, 2009 I'm glad you didnt give us the "skinny" on Bill and Rita or Fred and Joan.. (two marvelous couples as you probably found out) but i am curious your references to being Scottish and your affinity to the work out area aboard ship... have you ever given thot to renaming yourself..... "Sailor Jock"???????????
SCdocs Posted February 23, 2010 #50 Share Posted February 23, 2010 We thoroughly enjoyed this review. You don't need the Blarney Stone. We are on the Jewel TA September 2010 and are wondering...are there opportunities to pick up local tours in Cobn without booking through the ship. Thanks.
