minisuite or standard balcony on Coral?

We were recently on the Coral to the Panama Canal. We had a mini suite and the balcony was about 9 ft. x 7 ft. Really loved the extra room in the mini suite(especially the bathroom). It was also nice to have the couch. We weren't actually on the balcony that much as it was windy some days and we had a couple of rough sea days.

I'd choose the mini-suite. We had 2 of them on the Coral Princess (1 for our sons and 1 for us). We also had 1 previously on the Grand.

I'm sure the reg. balcony cabins are great, but we don't spend a whole lot of time on our balcony. The mini-suite balconies are large, IMO, and there's plenty of room on them. We liked the larger bathroom in the mini vs. the reg. balcony cabins and that was a motivating factor for us choosing them.

Often times, the mini-suites are cheaper than the Cat. BA reg. balcony cabins. For our Coral cruise, it was cheaper for us to get 2 Cat. AB minis vs. 2 Cat. BA reg. cabins. Check it out on a number of cruise sites and see what you can find. We saved $1500 on our cruise by looking around and had to cancel with our discount TA because she couldn't match the price that the larger co. was offering. If it wasn't such a large amt., we wouldn't have cancelled, but that was a pretty hefty amt.!

Good luck!

We had a mini on the Coral == A503. Loved it. However, the balcony is small. The minis on the Dolphin Deck are much larger, but they are completely exposed..all decks above can look down on these balconies. A big plus with a minisuite is the bathroom. It's a full bath, but the regular cabins have a small bath with a rather small shower.

Linda - We too had a tough time making the decision on whether to book a BA Balcony or minisuite! We had a BA on the Golden and loved the larger balcony! We opted for an AC minisuite on the Dolphin Deck - Cabin D710. The balcony is larger on this deck for minisuites and the balcony for this cabin is fully covered as it is in the bump out section at the back of the ship. We opted for a mini so we could have a little extra room and it'll be nice to have a bathtub in the shower (no balancing on one leg to shave the legs! ;) :D )
