Rare peanutzmom Posted January 2, 2005 #1 Share Posted January 2, 2005 Hi! I have a question for any of you that have attended the private parties for Carnival's previous guests. We'll be taking our second Carnival cruise in March and plan on attending, but I'd like some specifics to make sure it will fit with our other plans. What night and time is it usually scheduled for? What is the appropriate dress? Anything else we should know about it?? Thanks!

Lauri32 Posted January 2, 2005 #3 Share Posted January 2, 2005 If I remember correctly, it's usually right before main/early dinner seating. And I think it's on the 2nd formal night. We've seen people dressed in different attire there. Our first past guest party was on the Imagination and they had it in one of the lounges. On the Glory it was in the theater. It's basically free snacks, drinks, and history of Carnival show, plus they give you info on new ships coming out.
BrendaB1 Posted January 2, 2005 #4 Share Posted January 2, 2005 Be sure and fill out Past Guest info on your docs so that you will receive your invitation. You can find this number by going to Carnival's home page. Or go by Pursers desk onboard ship.
tef43 Posted January 3, 2005 #5 Share Posted January 3, 2005 It varies from ship to sip and from sailing to sailing. It is "usually" mid-to-late afternoon. *Never* on the same day as a formal night. Dress runs the gamut, no "suggested" dress code for the event is published anywhere. You will not see it mentioned in the Capers, but by invitation delivered to your cabin. bermudababe Posted January 3, 2005 #9 Share Posted January 3, 2005 The Past Guest party was on the day following the Captains party and was held from 5 - 5:45 PM. It was a nice event with hot snacks and plenty to drink.

travel girl23 Posted January 4, 2005 #13 Share Posted January 4, 2005 Last year on the Elation it was right before dinner on the second formal night in the Mikado Lounge. However, this year (three weeks ago) it was held in the Cole Porter Lounge starting before the early seating at dinner was over so we went late as we had early seating. It was so crowded that we walked through and left. They served appetizers and drinks and showed the Carnival movie of the history of the Carnival ships. cruznlobo Posted January 4, 2005 #14 Share Posted January 4, 2005 If anyone in your cabin is a past guest you will be able to attend. Only one past guest invitation per cabin. And ask your waiter to bring you two or three of your favorite drinks as you hand him a tip.

richardyc Posted January 4, 2005 #16 Share Posted January 4, 2005 can an uninvited guest sneak into one of these parties? do they have a guard standing by the door at all time? ;)
GoinCruisin Posted January 4, 2005 #17 Share Posted January 4, 2005 You really would not know when the party is... You need your invitation, but I guess if you made friends with someone that has an invitation, you could be their guest ;)

neverenufcruising Posted January 4, 2005 #20 Share Posted January 4, 2005 Have him/her leave you the tray, LOL...No kiddin' I averaged one every 5 minutes on our last get together. Of course, part of that is because I finish anything the DW doesn't like. I'm not throwing away perfectly good booze, paid for or not. :D GC 's right about the 5 days or more thing. CaribbeanCrazy Posted January 8, 2005 #22 Share Posted January 8, 2005 Go Early!!! They won't let you in untill the stated time on the invitation but you can be one of the first to get in. The place gets really packed. So another advantage to going early is it's easier to get drinks. Sit by an aisle way if you like to drink. Most of all Have Fun!!!
