Buying onboard credit?

Hi,

 

I may have just posted a flawed idea on the saving money and tips forum.

 

I thought I was being big and clever and came up with the suggestion of buying small amounts (or large if you want :)) of onboard credit each month to take advantage of the good £/€ exchange rates against the €.

 

Putting my money where my mouth is I then set about logging on to buy some and discover that I am charged in € for it although I imagine this is converted to $ at some time to hit the onboard account.

 

The million $ question is when is the purchase converted, at time of purchase or time of sailing??

You should call them and ask but I believe it is at time of purchase.

Thanks for answering my post on both forums. I have two cruises in the future, one on each, so would like to do what you do and put some by each month.
