Marseille port to city

I am looking to do Marseille on my own.

 

Just read that RCI would anchor at Marseille Provence Cruise Center which is an industrial port. And found posts talking differently on bus service from the port.

 

Do we have any public transport (bus/train or even taxi) that would take me to the city center or Vieux Port? Be it from RCI or the port.

 

Also Cassis is far from the train station? How could I try to make it?

Docked in Marseille last week.

No public transport at the port. RCI provides a shuttle service, but you have to pay for it - $12 per person return. Taxis are an option also but don't know how much they charge.

Thanks for such recent info. Did you really go out on that port or did any tours? Do you know if the bus would drop to the city centre, train stop or elsewhere?

 

And if anyone could suggest tips for Cassis?

We took the ship's excursion to Aix-en-Provence and had a wonderful day in a beautiful town, with a great tour guide. It was well worth the cost.

Haven't been to Cassis, I think it's about an hour away by road.
