No more 1A cabins?

I have been looking for a 1A cabin to Alaska next summer. No luck. I would assume they are sold out, but I notice on the reservation screen, Carnival's description of an "Inside Stateroom" - "Includes categories 4A, 4B, 4C....". No mention of 1A. Does anyone know if Carnival has discontinued the 1A option for solo cruisers at 150%?

You have to contact your TA/PVP about 1A pricing.

Carnivals website for booking is not the most user friendly. Go use just about any TA website and you will find 1A is available on just about any sailing that far out in advance.

When you get to the catagory page click on edit or catagory and all listings including remaining 1A's will appear. Remember CCL Spirit has only 5 or 6 1A cabins available, all on riviera deck.

You must already be looking at the page that shows all the Cabin Categories. The statement you're referring to is defining what cabins are included in the IS (Interior Cabin) Category when you book an IS Guarantee (4A, 4B, 4C, etc. which does not include Cat 1A Cabins).

 

Normally, underneath that section is a separate section for Category 1A - it's there for all the cases I just checked. I do see that it doesn't show for may 5, 2010 Spirit, but neither does $A or 4B, suggesting that they may not be available.

Remember also, with the spirit, there are only 4 1A cabins on the ship.

OK, so I am able to bring up the 1A cabins for other itineraries but not for Alaska. They must be sold out. I was afraid maybe they had done away with them on the Spirit class ships because they were never truly 1A cabins in the first place (upper/lower beds).

Whats the difference between this and the 4A section?

Once you enter in the number of people you plan to have in the stateroom and pick a rate look under stateroom catogories and you should see the 1A cabins listed. Once you selece 1A the next page will show you what cabins, if any, are available for that cruise.

The 1A's are cheaper for a solo cruiser, 150% vs 200%.

The other difference is that they are smaller and have bunk beds. Except on Spirit class, where they are the same as any other inside cabin.

Did a quick search for the AK sailing on 7 Sep 10 and found only one 1A cabin left, #1111.

 

I wish the Spirit class offered porthole rooms like the Conquest Class with the solo supplement...:rolleyes:

I went ahead and booked a 7A cabin on the 5/5/10 Spirit sailing. Happy I have a balcony but could have saved a TON of $$$ if there was a 1A available.
