patnfrank Posted September 24, 2009 #1 Share Posted September 24, 2009 The NCL Jewell Sep 30 to Oct 10 info is that port debarkation is 2 hours after arrival & embarkation 2 hours prior to departure. The Boston stop is scheduled for only 7 1/2 hours which would leave only 3 1/2 hours in port. This is my 11th cruise & most require passengers back on board 1/2 to one hour before departure. Am I missing something? Thanks.

Debarkation here ONLY refers to the end of your cruise -- they're saying that from the time the ship docks to when they'll start discharging passengers will be 2 hours. Same for embarkation: you have to board -- at the first time on the ship -- at least two hours before the ship is to set sail. But after that, the time is 1/2 hour prior to departure (but be sure you know when that is!), is the time you're expected to be on board for NCL too. Getting off in ports varies, sometimes within a half hour of the ship arriving, sometimes a bit longer than that.
garycarla Posted September 25, 2009 #3 Share Posted September 25, 2009 Agree with last posting. You will not have the same restrictions if this is just an intermediate stop. If it is the FIRST port you leave, or the first port you arrive in after visiting a foreign country, or the last port of call, all bets are off. Tahlulla-Hula Posted September 25, 2009 #4 Share Posted September 25, 2009 THANK YOU ALL for clarifying that!! As a first time cruiser, I thought the time limit was for every port and never thought to ask, just assumed that was the way it was. Stress about shore excursions has just decreased tenfold. I love CC Members and Boards!
