CruisingChick Posted April 13, 2004 Author #5 Share Posted April 13, 2004 Yanceycruiser, Thanks for the good wishes. I will let you know about our cruise when I get back. I can't believe there's no one around who has just gotten off the April 4th Cruise. I'm sure the ship is fine, I'm really just worried about the weather. twinkletoes915 Posted April 13, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 13, 2004 We leave 4/25 on Infinity, would love to hear from someone who just got off, but they would have gotten off of the Millie, right? I think Infinity is in dry dock till my cruise, we are the first out after dry dock if I heard correctly. I want to hear about the weather for the Panama Canal cruise. Thanks! CruisingChick Posted April 13, 2004 Author #7 Share Posted April 13, 2004 twinkletoes, The Infinity is doing the 7 Night Eastern Carribean cruises that should be on the Millennium. Infinity was only in dry dock for one week - March 28 thru April 3rd. The April 4-11 sailing was it's first after dry dock and is when it took over the 7 night Eastern Carribean itinerary. CruisingChick Posted April 13, 2004 Author #9 Share Posted April 13, 2004 Twinkeltoes, The 2 week Panama Canal Cruise (on Millennium) would have just disembarked on this Sunday, April 11th. I hope you have a great time on your cruise. I'll get to the canal some day - most likely once my son goes to college. I have no clue who the Captain of the Infinity is, but I guess I'll find out in 5 days! Take care. jdlewis Posted April 13, 2004 #12 Share Posted April 13, 2004 Does anyone know if this is going to be a permanent change? Will the Infinity go back to doing the Panama route this season? Or will Millenium be taking over until repositioning? We are booked for an FV cabin next spring and would hate to have to change it. warmwinds Posted April 13, 2004 #14 Share Posted April 13, 2004 Since Millie and Infinity are sister ships with almost identical layouts, if you had an FV in one it would be the same FV in the other. That's why it was so easy for them to substitute the ship when Infinty had to go to drydock - people just kept their exact same cabin number. Honbun Posted April 14, 2004 #17 Share Posted April 14, 2004 Hey Anne Marie! I just finished the 4/4 Infinity cruise (I spent a couple of extra days with my Mom before coming back home). Anyway, the ship was fine; we didn't experience any delays. I was biting my nails up until I actually say the ship in Fort Lauderdale, but there it was in all its glory! We arrived in each port ahead of time, so I guess those pods are working fine. The weather was nice. It was mostly sunny with a few fluffy clouds to make your pix look nice We did run into a pretty decent rainstorm sailing into Nassau, but by the time we actually arrived, the rain had stopped and the sun came out. Let's see, about the CD and the ship's Master (I'm so bad with names, I have to look them up on my dailys). CD is Rich Clesen (he was fun, if a little goofy). The Master is Captain Gerassimos Andrianatos. Any other questions? Fire away! mari 10 Posted April 14, 2004 #18 Share Posted April 14, 2004 My neighbor just called me from San Juan. She is on the Infinity this week. She said that everything is great - crew (very friendly and helpful) food - her husband is having salmon for lunch every day at the Aqua Spa, and loving it. Weather - great. She did say that the free bus trip in Dominican Republic wasn't any great shakes. Would have more fun staying on the ship. Also, Regis Philbin is onboard. She said that when I board on Sunday, she doesn't want to get off. The Infinity sounds great. Mari
CruisingChick Posted April 14, 2004 Author #19 Share Posted April 14, 2004 Honbun, Thanks so much for the information. I'm so happy to hear the weather was good and the ship is working fine. I'm always a little worried before I go. It will be nice to have a different CD than Edwin Rojas. After two cruises in a row with Edwin I needed a change. Do you know if they had karaoke any of the nights? Mari, thanks so much for your information from your friend but now I'm really MAD, Regis is on the ship and I missed hime by one week!!! UGH. He must like Celebrity. His wife and him took Celebrity to Bermuda last year. Honbun Posted April 14, 2004 #20 Share Posted April 14, 2004 Anne Maria - Yes, they did have several karaoke sessions (at least one was a family event). I didn't get to any 'cause there was so much else going on. Make sure you go to the SS United States - it was a truly exceptional experience. The food and service were fantastic. Our waiter was Christian (who also works the breakfast shift in the Aqua Spa cafe) and is such a sweetheart. I do have to disagree with Mari's friend. I liked the DR. We went on the Bayhibe Beach Break and the beach is lovely. Beautiful water, lovely beach with both sun and shade, soft sand, great (and huge!) pool (actually, there was also a toddler pool for all those with little ones) and free drinks! I thought the $36 was well worth it. Plus, since you are in port so late, you get to see the ship at night. They aren't the prettiest ships during the day (kinda bulky), but at night it is truly a sight. All of these glowing golden lights broken up with beautiful blue lights shining from some of the windows. Would I go back to Altos de Chavon once I've been there? Ah, no (then again, it IS free!). But I'll take a lovely beach day any day of the week. Enjoy! I'm jealous of you already! CruisingChick Posted April 14, 2004 Author #21 Share Posted April 14, 2004 Leslie, Thanks so much for all your help. We already have reservations for the SS United States on Tuesday evening at 7:30 PM. Last summer we sailed on Millennium and ate at The Olympic and it was wonderful. It's kind of hard to convince me to pay $108 just to go to the beach (36 x 3), so I haven't booked anything for Casa De Campo yet. One question my husband was wondering about was the menu in the Aqua Spa. I keep hearing about salmon, but my husband doesn't eat salmon. This will be our third Celebrity cruise and we keep hearing wonderful things abou the Spa, but have never been there. I think it will be the first place I stop off when I get on the ship. toni1266 Posted April 14, 2004 #22 Share Posted April 14, 2004 Geeh, way to bust our bubble I'm just kidding.. Actually my kids go to a private school and I think College will actually be cheaper if they can get themselves in to a nice in-state school. We are very lucky, we have many great university's around here.
quote:
Originally posted by 45014: For all you people that are waiting for the kids to go to college, that's when the expenses are the biggest.
