Last week I called to book a 9A on the Freedom next year through Seamiles. The rep at Seamiles said there were no 9A rooms left however I could see one on the Carnival booking site. A PVP with Carnival also said the room wasn't available but it continued to show available. Finally after using a second PVP at Carnival we got it booked. Not sure what the difficulty was, but finally found the right person and got it booked.

Just to answer this comment yes you can go down in your category. If you have not paid in full the price will be adjusted. If you have paid in full and your not within penalty then they just issue a refund. When upgrading you just pay the difference in the cost.

Wrong. This is true for non ES bookings. With ES you cannot downgrade your cabin category. You can upgrade by paying the difference in the rate for the new cabin.

Thanks Mike, this is just what I am hoping will happen. I will have her call tomorrow, and speak to any rep. and hopefully sort this out.

SSOceanlover... thanks for the clarification on what is allowed and not allowed as to weblinks and such.... and not to worry about downgrading with ES, they want suites not 8D so that won't be an issue.

Actually I guess I missed where she mentioned Early Saver. But yes you can still get out of the Early Saver you just have to pay the $50.00 per person admin fee. Makes no sense to do at least not to me. I would upgrade if anything. :)

Have a great day!

So, my friend is sick and can't make the call today, but there is no hurry as far as I know. With the Early Saver rate already applied to the 8D she has right up until final payment to make upgrade changes... right? I know the prices will change slightly and she should do it as soon as possible (also don't want that block of 4 suites to dissapear), but by the end of the week should be fine.

Thanks for all your help folks.

Why not turn all those bookings over to a Cruise Specialist TA ?

A problem like this is where they earn their comm..

You just need to call Carnival & get "pin #'s" to give the TA.

Then have the TA go to bat for all of you to get the cabins that you wished .

A TA that sells a lot of Carnival will have much more pull , connections

with Carnival Sales Managers and Problem Resolution , than you have .

The TA should also "thank you $$ " for turning over a few bookings to him/her.

I did not know this was a possibility, never thought of it or heard of it. We will hope she doesn't even need to get to this point. Thanks.

One other thing to keep in mind with insurance....

You mentioned that the passengers might have health issues. If ANYTHING can be construed as a pre-existing condition, they need to buy their insurance within 14 days of their initial travel payment. After this, most companies will not cover any health issues that were already present.

UPDATE: My friend called and got it straightened out. It was not as simple as it should have been, but to make a long story short... she, and her friends, are all set to enjoy a 6 day cruise with ajoining suites. :) YEAH!!

Thanks to all for your help, wisdom, and encouragement. I love CC.
