Question About ES Price Drops???

Let's say you see a Carnival Balcony cabin advertised by Carnival for $1000 per person. You then find you are able to book that same cabin with a TA for $850 per person on an ES rate.

If Carnival drops the price of the cabin to $950 per person for the same category, do you get the $50 per person OBC or does it have to go below the $850 the TA originally charged you to get the OBC.

You need to ask your TA. I am guessing they are basically giving you a portion of their commission. So your actual cruise fare may be the same as what is on Carnival's site; so I would think you would be eligible for a credit if that rate goes down. But it would be up to your TA to fill out the form.

ES rules say that if you find a cheaper price for the same category as what you paid, you can submit the claim. Since the current price of the category is more expensive than what you paid, you're still getting the better deal.

Unless you want to rebook at the $1000 price and submit for the $50 credit? I'm sure they'd find a way to make that happen for you!

some travel agents only give a percentage of the price drops since every time they lower the price they lose more commision.

If they didn't originally discount the Carnival price by rebating the commision you would usually have no problems getting the $50 reduction.

If your TA is quoting a cheaper price than you can book on Carnival, then they are probably cutting their commission to do it...if the fare drops, most of them will not give the same percentage off as each price drop cuts into their commission.

Carnival doesn't count travel agent promotional discounts.

For a lower fare reduction, it must be a CARNIVAL published fare found on their website....

If your travel agent reduced price is 850.00 and Carnival's is 950.00...you would only get the 50.00 difference in the Carnival fare.

Or they might not get the $50, if the TA has already discounted down to $850 and the Carnival price is $950. Thats why the OP needs to discuss this with their TA since its not a Carnival situation, its a situation with a particular TA who discounted the rate.
