Canon Loyalty/Ever gotten a reconditioned camera from Canon?

I bought my grandson an inexpensive Canon Power Shot A 470 over 18 months ago. I dropped it.

To have it repaired would be almost what I paid for it.( Around $80.00)

Canon will let me turn it in on a reconditioned camera, Canon SD1100 for only $99.00. I am tempted to do it because the SD1100 has good reviews and for a teenager, that is probably more than adequate. Their retail is around $179.00 right now.

It comes with 90 day warranty. I would think reconditioned by Canon ought to be 'as good as new.' What do you think of the deal? Is it a good one ?
