La Quinta Hotel Ft. Lauderdale was fine

Recommended Posts

Usually when we sail out of Florida ports we stay with my sister-in-law the day before, however as she was out of town, we needed to stay in a hotel.

Thanks for the suggestion of the LaQuinta.

We live 3 miles from the Ocean in SC so we were not looking for a beach experience. And, we have been to Florida many times so didn't need anything tourist would be looking for. We just wanted a clean hotel near the port for one night. For those that recommended the LaQuinta we thought it was fine. Our room (King Size Bed) including taxes, etc. was $94.00

Nothing fancy, but clean, large rooms and right next to the Oakwood Plaza shopping area. Several restaurants and stores. We ate that night at Red Lobster. We were able to leave our car for the 5 night cruise for free. They have a well lit parking lot. We parked near entrance up against the hotel under a light but probably could have parked anywhere. They just ask that you don't park in the spots where guests are checking in. You just fill out a form for the extended parking so they know whose cars are there. We met people that have left their cars there for years with never a problem. There is free continental breakfast in the morning. (Cereal, bagels, waffels, fruit, etc.) You give them your name when checking in if you want to take shuttle to ship. The shuttle leaves at 11:00a.m. We drop a few people at the airport and then on to the ship. We were on board at 11:45. Just a few miles from Hotel. Shuttle was free. Note: There is not a return shuttle. Our cab fare from ship to hotel was $21.00. If you give cab driver exact address to hotel and tell him what exit you will be better off as far as the fare. (Also if you are flying in, there is a free shuttle from the airport - just pick up the LaQuinta phone.)
