Mr. Finney Posted October 9, 2009 #1 Share Posted October 9, 2009 Can somebody recommend a deep sea fishing excursion operator out of Galveston? A friend is going on the Ecstacy with us next summer and wants to go a day early and fish. Thanks!

Mr. Finney Posted October 10, 2009 Author #3 Share Posted October 10, 2009 I don't know, I didn't know public trips were even available. Are they quite a bit cheaper? Seems like all the webistes I've looked at are priced at $550+ for a half-day trip. Thanks!

Thanks ssb! I'm not sure how much he wants to spend or how he'd feel about being on a boat with that many others. 100 person capacity? That's a lot of hooks flying around, lol! What are your suggestions for smaller groups, if I may ask?

Mr. Finney Posted October 21, 2009 Author #7 Share Posted October 21, 2009 Wow! Thanks ssb! I really appreciate this. I was surprised to find no threads about this on the forums. Thanks again! Bryan
RoyalCaribbeanLover Posted October 21, 2009 #8 Share Posted October 21, 2009 Please just remember that to really go 'deep' sea fishing you have to go at least 60 miles offshore. That is usually why they seem a bit more expensive. The fishing just offshore is pretty good, but don't expect to catch anything really large. Have a great time whatever do. Husker Cruzer Posted December 1, 2009 #10 Share Posted December 1, 2009 Will be in Houston area and Galveston area in mid March. Thought deep sea fishing with husband and 2 sons would be a pretty neat experience. Any recommendations? Thanks.
DFW Airwolf Posted December 1, 2009 #11 Share Posted December 1, 2009 Here are a couple of links you can check out; http://www.galveston.com/captjohn/index.html http://www.galvestonpartyboatsinc.com/index.html They are both based out of Pier-19 over by the Harbor House. I havent gone in several years so not sure how things are. Last I heard RED SNAPPER season was closed & wasnt forecast to open for awhile. That is what I like to catch. Husker Cruzer Posted December 1, 2009 #12 Share Posted December 1, 2009 Do you know what we will be able to fish for in mid March?
DFW Airwolf Posted December 2, 2009 #13 Share Posted December 2, 2009 Do you know what we will be able to fish for in mid March? Really depends on what trip you take. I have been thinking about doing one of the 36hr Tuna trips. They go out about 200 miles & you get lots of good fish. Most Offshore trips is Ling, Drum, Grouper, Sharks etc. Bay trips arent worth it in my opinion. I have done a couple when the waves were too high for offshore & they all sucked.
