  1. What did it say specifically about Jewel TA Rome to Galveston November 26 2020 ? If any thing, because it’s still open for booking as of now .
  2. Not buying liquor duty free will be great loss to Cruise line and State of Texas . Choices are tough ones these days.
  3. Yes and that is the law as it is written and legislated . The law was written decades ago and not for the cruise lines . Legislature is open to you’re suggestions .
  4. You can only drink what ROYAL buys and pays tax on in the STATE . Blame it on Royal for not buying enough booze .

  7. Good observations John , and again logical for Liberty to fill the gap and bridge .
  8. Hi john . Thanks for missing me . Royal made the right and only logical decision in the situation . Here is latest from Royal spokesperson . June 11, 2020 GALVESTON One of Royal Caribbean's largest cruise ships won't come to the Port of Galveston in 2021 as planned, the company said Wednesday. The Allure of the Seas, a 1,185-foot ship with room for up to 6,780 passengers, will sail out of Florida during the winter 2021 cruise season, Royal Caribbean spokesman Jonathan Fishman said. The Allure of the Seas, an Oasis-class ship, is one of the largest in Royal Caribbean's fleet. It is now not scheduled to sail out of Galveston until 2022, Fishman said. The announcement is not a great surprise. Royal Caribbean and the port earlier this year agreed to delay the construction of a new $100 million cruise terminal that would be designed to accommodate the larger ship. The new terminal is now scheduled to be completed by October 2022, Fishman said. With the Allure of the Sea's arrival delayed, the Liberty of the Seas will remain operating out of Galveston until April 2022, Fishman said. The Liberty of the Seas is a 1,111-foot ship with capacity for 4,200 people. It first arrived in Galveston in 2015. 9. Jewel arrives Nov 2020 TA from Rome and leaves Mar 2021 TA to Barcelona
  10. Saltgrass is a reasonably priced restaurant commensurate with the quality of the food with excellent service .
  11. For Royal to make a splash in Galveston and compete with Carnival , a larger different class ship other than Liberty needs to sail out of Galveston . Only Royal can conclude , if Allure or Anthem or another is better fit with terminal #2 until terminal #3 is complete . After all the hype of Oasis Class Ship coming to Galveston, it would be big let down to booked Allure cruisers , for one to not come until 2022 . Which one is the question .
  12. This is information only about Anthem ship "consideration" , and no decision has been made yet ! RCL website would certainly not show it yet !
  13. Its not a guess , that another ship is being considered for Galveston by RCL . But I did state Odyssey, when it is actually Anthem being considered . My mistake . Anthem has less capacity to better match up with terminal # 2 . I am not staying its a great match. That's for RCL to evaluate and decide . Would it replace Liberty or Allure ? I am unaware ! That information comes written information from Roger Rees , Executive Director of Galveston Port !
  14. Odyssey is being "considered" by RCL, because of lesser capacity and better match to Terminal # 2, until Terminal # 3 is completed .
  15. Fog is not an issue in September and with private transportation you should have no problem to Hobby .
  16. It is not clear !!!! And to quote “any hotels in the Galveston area” is a broad statement by OP. It does not say just Houston area. If you want to extend you’re vacation come on the Galveston . The island is a wonderful tourist destination . If you want to crash for night and go straight to ship in morning stay on mainland . Either way , you have to pay for transfer to island and ship . One trip .
  17. Nothing will surprise me now . May have to Lift and Shift to Odyssey Fall TA 2021 .
  18. Good point . We are on TA in fall if it sails . Out of Rome too . We can still be with our friends though , that’s more important than where you are at .
  19. If they are NOT sailing full capacity accommodations my be adequate .
  20. FYI Do all rates qualify for Lift & Shift? Most cruise rates do apply with no restrictions, but there are a few exceptions. Select restricted rates are ineligible for Lift & Shift and Best Price Guarantee - including but not limited to Net rates Casino rates Travel Agent Friends & Family rates Travel Agent Reduced rates Complimentary staterooms
  21. Do not judge Galveston with the past experiences ! Fog exists in winter like everywhere , but fog delays have been very few last year , because pilots agreed to stop hijacking ships in Gulf . Pilots were renegotiating new contracts . We the cruisers were the victims . Royal filed suit against them, and the pilots and Royal came to new agreement . Higher pilot fees for moving ships in the fog. Other circumstances could always exist , but odds are with you for you’re flight .

Clearing customs has become so much better also in last year, with new and improved terminal # 2, and additional procedures and staffing of immigration officials . Galveston has improved so much in last year, we actually enjoy cruising in and out of Galveston now . We shall see with opening up again . The ifs have generally disappeared in Galveston .
  23. Carnival Cruise line transfers , Galveston Limo transfers , Uber, Lyft and others
