gm217 Posted October 11, 2009 #1 Share Posted October 11, 2009 I am looking to book a cruise to Alaska, but I have no idea which balconies are covered. We are looking for either an aft balcony cabin or mini suite. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
cb at sea Posted October 12, 2009 #2 Share Posted October 12, 2009 On most ships, every deck is "covered" by the deck above it...do you want shade, or not? The exception (on some ships) are those aft balconies....what cruiseline/ship are you considering?
alcpa1 Posted October 12, 2009 #3 Share Posted October 12, 2009 If you are particularly interested in Princess ships please go to their board to get the accurate balcony information. Not all Princess categories have covered balconies and it does vary from class to class on their fleet. With the exception of GS 1600 on the Radiance class RCI ships the afts have wonderful cover. We have sailed to Alaska on the Radiance and been on several of her sisters. The deck 10 cabins particularly under the pool area have extended cover. We are not bothered by the frequently commented noise from the Lido deck but it is a consideration for some. Celebrity has only 12 CC aft cabins and they have terrific balconies. Their starboard and port balcony cabins are well covered. We have also sailed on every class except the new Solstice class. Those are the only lines I can help with, so good luck. Any cruise to Alaska is a treat.
