Princess Flights

I am sure you are looking for specific stories from recent passengers; but bear in mind that any one person's experience has no predictive value for anyone else.

Princess Air can put you on any routing with any number of stops that gets you between Point A and Point B. If you have not yet read the sticky thread about Cruise Air over on the Cruise Air forum, you should. It is must reading for anyone planning on using cruise air; at least you know what you are (and are not) signing up for.

Does anyone know how Princess flies you from Florida to Bangkok?(especially from Orlando) How many legs? Would love any comments on using their air.

We check expedia.com whenever a cruise involves flying. We find the flights that suite us, and pay a deviation fee to be sure to get those flights.

Princess doesn't own an airline. They contract with regular airline companies as a courtesy to their cruise passengers. They work with several airlines but can ONLY book what those airlines allow them to book based on the contract. There are few choices. If they offer you flights you don't like, it is sometimes possible to pay for a "deviation" in order to get better schedule but it will be an additional cost to you.

They have no control over carrier, routings or schedules. They are not responsible for any airline delays, lost luggage, missing the ship due to delays, etc.

Best thing to do is research to find out what works for you re scheduling, price, etc. then call Princess to compare prices, routings.

Personally, I'd never take the deal. Even if it saved a few dollars. I prefer to select my own flights and usually want to arrive a day or so before the cruise. This extra time gives a little elbow room in case of flight delays.

It's important to remember that if you buy their air package, they will not be able to assist you with alternate flights if something happens enroute. You would need to work with the airline on which you are flying.

Princess charges $1899 pp for their air. You can book your own air leaving Mar. 11 on United for $1169, two stops (IAD/Tokyo) on the way over and one stop in either SFO or IAD on the return. The flight arrives in Bangkok late on March 12 (cruise departs 13th), you can stay in the airport hotel in Bangkok for $120 and then catch the cruise shuttle to the port (80 miles) the next day. You are still ahead by $1340.

Book your own. Much cheaper. American has a nonstop to LAX and then nonstop to BKK on Thai Airlines.
