Size of taxis in SA ports?

I have been advised that the taxis in Buenos Aires are small compact cars. So I already know that my group of 5 will usually need two taxis.

Does anyone have any info on some of the ports as to what type of taxi is typical? It would be nice to know that we could book a car & driver upon arrival, but if everywhere is using compact cars, I might have to do more advance planning.

In the Caribbean, it seems that vans are everywhere, so until someone told me that Buenos Aires has small cabs....I hadn't realized this could be a potential concern.

Thanks

All the cabs we saw here were tiny...3 people would be tight. We took a cab once, but booked private tours for a small group the rest of the time. They used vans, and we had 6-8 in our group quite comfortably. Booked everything through http://www.southstartours.com With 5 people I would guess you would do fairly well price-wise, and have a guide on top of it (included in the price).
