What if Carnival starts offering onboard credits for our already booked cruise?

Here's my question.

 

We booked ES rate back in June 2009 for January 2010 cruise and no onboard credit specials were offered on our particular cruise. If Carnival starts offering a special with onboard credits for 3, 6 or 7 night cruises, should we be eligible to get this onboard credit? Or is it strictly for new bookings only? With ES rate, I would think we would be eligible to receive any specials (along with price drops) that become available. Am I wrong to think this?

 

Anyone have experience getting an onboard credit (not from a price drop) on an already booked cruise? Thanks for everyone's input.

If the bottom line is cheaper you would be able to put in for the price drop. I havent heard these are only for new bookings.

 

Chances are the fares will be higher than your ES because of the upgrades and OBC being offered ... but depends on what you booked, so its possible.

My question is not about price drops; but If Carnival offers an onboard credit for booking an Inside, Oceanview, Balcony cabins for my January 2010 cruise, can I get the onboard credit even if we booked ES several months ago (when no onboard credits were being offered)? Also what if there are no 8A cabins available, does that affect whether we would get it or not?

ES credits are ONLY if the price of YOUR cabin goes down.

 

In the case of a special or "sale", you would not be eligible for the lower rate if the "new" fares are specified for new bookings only.
