bonvoyaged Posted October 14, 2009 #1 Share Posted October 14, 2009 I have read many reviews of Caye Caulker and Ambergris, but wondering if it is better to head to one of these Cayes, or another, if we want to spend the day on a beach and do a little snorkling (possible but not necessary). Or...are there nice day resorts on the beach in Belize without going out to one of the Cayes. We are in port from 8-5 (daylight savings time) and want to make sure we make the best use of our time. We love out of the way places and not interested in going on one of cruise ship tours. Thanks for any info you can provide! We leave Oct. 31...not too long!! Rare crewsweeper Posted October 14, 2009 #2 Share Posted October 14, 2009 Both of the cayes have decent beaches but they are not the wide white sandy beaches of Cozumel or other Caribbean islands. In Caye Caulker you may not have access to fresh water shower, unless you ask at one of the small local hotels there. You can get to both via water taxi. Just be mindful of the taxi schedule verus your ship's time. There are some hotels near Belize City that supposedly have beach front property. But I don't have any information about them and haven't heard of cruisers using their facilities.
