Im escorting a group on the Triumph 3/13/10 and we are going into New Orleans 2 days early. Due to a Orthopedic convention a lot of the hotels are full. These are the only two hotels that I was able to get rooms at and am not sure which one to do. Does ANYONE have any suggestions or comments about either hotel?? I need to get one of them booked with in the next day.. so any assistance would be greatly appreciated!!

We will have all ages going..(10-65) and want to make sure which ever hotel we chose is CLEAN & in a SAFE area, but also want to make sure it is not to far away from the trolley line so that the ones that do have trouble walking can trolley around if the need to.

Thanks in advance for your help!!!!

Both are clean and in safe areas. The Hampton is on the St. Charles Avenue streetcar line, but about thirty blocks from downtown/French Quatrer. The Provincial is on Chartres Street in the French Quarter.

I agree, both are clean and considered safe. The Hampton Garden District is on the St. Charles streetcar line, so you can get most places easily from there (I'd recommend getting a day or 3 day pass if you stay there). The Provincial is more centrally located, being IN the French Quarter, but rooms would be smaller.

Thanks for the help! I think we decided to go with the Hotel Provincial. Do you know if they are on the trolley route? I have two people that will be traveling that it is hard for them to walk to far so I was hoping it was either on or near the trolley route.

Thanks again!! ;)

You'll be a block or two away from the Riverfront Streetcar line (#2). Like it's name it runs along the river. The Canal Streetcar (#47-48) also goes down the riverfront. If you want the Canal Streetcar you have to be careful and watch for the right one, because they aren't as frequent as the Riverfront ones. You can get pretty much anywhere the streetcars go from there. The three streetcar lines are Riverfront, Canal and St. Charles. The Canal line intersects the St. Charles line, so you can transfer from one to the other (not sure about a fee for transfers). The routes and schedules are online at www.norta.com - as the previous poster noted the schedules are at best "approximate" times - but the lines do run regularly. If you're going to be riding the streetcars very often I would get a 1-day, 3-day or 5-day pass - for however long you're going to be staying. It saves money and time (digging for $1.25 in correct change for each person every time you want to ride takes time!!)
