Hi just back from the Renaissance Cruise, was bit worried after some of the bad reviews and gotta say the cabins are v. small but hey you only sleep in them! Cannot fault the ship at all , food was great, every member of staff was so friendly and I work with the public so know what it can be like.

Little points for first time cruisers

No water facilities on the decks only on deck 9 in the lido restaurant. We took thermos cups as suggested which were handy if you wanted to get hot or cold drink and take down to a lower deck whilst you were sunbathing.

Drinks v.reasonable roughly £3 each depending of course on what you drink. We had the cocktail of the day each night in the sky bar and sat and watched ship sail v.pleasant way to spend time b4 dinner.

No problems charging phone camera we just plugged the usa part of adaptor and everything was fine.

Dont be frightened to ask for a different dinner if you dont like what they serve you, one of our table members didnt realise it was lamb and they just swapped it no probs. The spice boys are at sight to see in the restaurant!

I would def. go again and hope if anyone else goes they have a good time. Any tips please ask me.

Hi

yes there was 4 meal choices each time, a fish, 2meat and a veggie just this chap picked the wrong one I think and they were fine about changing it.

Tips - make sure you download map of monte carlo if you are going on your own cos Im sure we missed quite a bit as we didnt know where everything was, we did see the casino and the grand prix circuit but missed other stuff. Next time we cruise I will really investigate each port that we dock at to see where we can get to on our own and also print out maps. The staff are pretty good but may not always have maps available.

Happy cruising

Hi Lucysplace think we are going on the same one as you as i just had this mad thought that it is only 75 days to go. More excited about it than Christmas.

S19 thanks for your review after all the bad ones I have read since we booked this has cheered me up, especially as we pursuaded another couple to come with us. If it was just us I know we would make the most of it.

We have opted for the late dining, can you tell me if you are with the same people every night as it is on P&O? The reason I ask is as I said before we have another couple coming with us and we booked at different times so are not classed as a group but would really like to sit with them for dinner.

Hi

yeah you are with the same people each night. Suggest you get your friends to change their sitting. the first night was open dining [a free for all] and then the second night on it was fixed sitting, we already had a table allocated but you can go up and request to change it or be put together. Perhaps your travel agent or Thomsons can sort this out before you go.

Captains night was good, you got a free cocktail and they introduce all the staff so if you've not done it before it was interesting. Photos on the night are taken with different back drops, we've added up with the staircase of the Titanic behind us which is quite funny.

Do hope you enjoy it and the other bad reviews dont put you off. Our friends went same time on a Costa Cruise and didnt enjoy that at all although all the reviews were good so maybe its pot luck. Basically so long as you dont expect a luxurious ship you will be fine and at the end of the day its the staff and entertainment and food thats most important.

Any other questions dont hesitate to ask.

Leuth, when you get on board, the maitre d' will be outside the dining room during the afternoon for you to check or change your table allocation. If the four of you (or maybe just the two gents in your party) go and see him, he will make sure you are seated together for dinner. Go early, as obviously there is more flexibility the earlier you ask. We had a table for seven of us last December this way. You keep the same table, maybe with some other passengers as well, and the same waiters and wine waiter for the duration, same as on P&O.
