hibiscus27 Posted October 22, 2009 #1 Share Posted October 22, 2009 Hello CC I'm was asked to bring back a "molcajete" or a "mortar and pestle set" from Cozumel when I go on my cruise next month (can't wait!!) . I'm hoping you guys know... can I find these in the shops of Cozumel? We don't have any plans to go to the mainland, so I'm hoping its something I can pick up at the market shops or something... Thanks!!!!!
lcguy Posted October 22, 2009 #2 Share Posted October 22, 2009 Try Los Cinco Soles... right at the port or the one in town. Or your local Williams Sonoma or Sur La Table, etc. :-)
vickiw0318 Posted October 22, 2009 #3 Share Posted October 22, 2009 I was going to say Los Cinco Soles would be your best bet too.

MrsPete Posted October 22, 2009 #6 Share Posted October 22, 2009 You can get those all over the place here in the United States. Is something special about the ones from Mexico?
KAWS Posted October 22, 2009 #7 Share Posted October 22, 2009 They do have them in all the souvenier shops. They are wooden though; not sure if you or your friend realized that. I was going to get one until I saw that.

I dunno.... my Mexican friend asked me to get her one... I'm just trying to oblige. They do have them in all the souvenier shops. They are wooden though; not sure if you or your friend realized that. I was going to get one until I saw that. I sure hope I can find a stone one.... crossing my fingers!

Thanks!!!!! If you get the authentic ones they are made of stone and I would think very heavy! I'm not sure your friend would like the wooden ones. If they want stone, it's reall going to weigh down our luggage.
lcguy Posted October 22, 2009 #10 Share Posted October 22, 2009 You will find them everywhere, but Los Cinco is a fun place to shop. And if you're at the Los Cinco Soles in town, drop by next door to Pancho's Backyard for a snack and some high test margaritas!!!!! ;)
