Raptor Center - A Must See?

When we were there in 2002, they had quite a few birds. We had all the info we wanted and more from the young eager employees. For pictures of birds, it is hard to shoot them without fences etc in picture. The resident eagle out front came out pretty good. It is good for 45min to an hour. Our best photo op came at Island Wings dock in Ketchikan, where we had a dozen sitting on pilings and flying around, while we photographed from about 30 ft away.

We really enjoyed our visit there on our first Alaska cruise. Well worth the admission, and they do great work year-round. For my money, also some of the best-looking clothing items I found in Alaska. Of course, you can visit them on the web at http://www.alaskaraptor.org/AboutArc/Index.cfm. I brought home a bunch of their sponsorship brochures -- it makes a very meaningful gift for a new Eagle Scout.
