Fishing in Halifax

Recommended Posts

I used to live in Halifax and went deep sea fishing a couple times. Nothing too exciting, more of an excuse to drink beer and get away from our wives :o

The Atlantic can be cold and rough when the ships normally go to Halifax, not too much in the way of exotic fish either.

I did find this one link however..http://www.bluesharkcharters.com/

I really don't think it's going to be the best place to go fishing. Unless you are dead set to get out on a boat, you might be better enjoying the land based tours. A drive out to Peggy's Cove is really nice! They also offer harbor tours from the waterfront, but in terms of fishing - halifax isn't a huge fishing port at all. Cape Breton has more fishing but the waters are rough!

I used to work for a company that offered fishing charters on the Halifax waterfront. Personally, I wouldn't recommend it. The waters outside the peninsula are quite rough. The majority of charters that did go resulted in very few fish and a boat full of seasick passengers.

What other ports are you visiting? Perhaps one of those will be better suited for fishing.
