star58 Posted April 18, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 18, 2004 I noticed on the Princess Cruise website that Venice has fog approx. 24 days during June and Naples approx. 28 days. Is fog ever a problem when touring and should we plan our sightseeing accordingly? Rare Hlitner Posted April 18, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 18, 2004 We have been in Venice 2 times (during July) and been in Naples about 7 times during June and July. We have never seen any substantial fog. I cannot imagine that fog would last past early morning, and its hard to picture it having any impact in Venice. As to Naples, if you had really awful weather, it could have some impact on the hydrofoils that go to Capri. This being said, they do have radar and I suspect it might cause delays more than cancellations. Hank
star58 Posted April 19, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted April 19, 2004 Thank you for the information. I was concerned that if we leave the ship at 7:30am as planned, we might not be able to enjoy the view of the countryside or towns until 10am or so. This might determine which direction we go first. Apparently if there is fog, it is not usually prohibitive. I appreciate your help. TedC Posted April 19, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 19, 2004 A Foggy Day in ... in Venice Town ... could well make it more intriguing ... and even more romantic!
wwinfl91 Posted April 20, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 20, 2004 When we were in the Med last year it was a little foggy when the Golden was approaching Venice but it cleared up by the time we got closer to shore which allowed for some great picture taking. Be up early if you are arriving from Venice in the morning and go to one of the upper decks and you will have a chance to get some great pictures of the city that are hard to get from anyplace else. In Naples there wasn't any fog when we came in or when we left. Have a Great cruise. GSPLover Posted May 29, 2008 #7 Share Posted May 29, 2008 We were in Capri last June and had fog. Did not hamper traffic from Naples to Capri. Did hinder the view in Anacapri. See pics at http://picasaweb.google.com/ftroute/NaplesCapri
