Shorts in Alaska

I am goning to Alaska May 9, I plan on taking jeans, slacks, caprie for day time wear, do you think I should take shorts or is it to cold in early May for shorts. Thanks Teresa

Hi Teresa!

Weather is always a gamble in Alaska. When I was there in May, there was a warm day in Skagway where people wore shorts (but I would not count on it). You might want to pack a pair just in case you get lucky, but long pants are a better choice. Plan on layers daily! Believe me, you will be in long pants, sweaters, and jackets when the ship is moving or at a glacier face.

Have a great cruise!

I am not taking any shorts this time round. I froze by butt off last time we went in May/June. I will be more prepared when we go in early May 2005.

Better to take off than not have enough to put on ;)
