Yugum Posted October 30, 2009 #1 Share Posted October 30, 2009 Any suggestions as to get from LAX to San Pedro for Sapphire cruise = for 4 people? Seams like a taxi may be quick & easy. Costs?
maxamuus Posted October 30, 2009 #2 Share Posted October 30, 2009 I know lots of people use the supper shuttle. http://www.supershuttle.com/
ggprincess2004 Posted October 30, 2009 #3 Share Posted October 30, 2009 $$ wise, and convenience wise, Supershuttle may be the best way to go. Taxi fares can get high depending upon traffic, and getting 4 pple plus luggage into one cab - iffy.
maxamuus Posted October 30, 2009 #4 Share Posted October 30, 2009 PS if you use discount code URY59 saves you a few bucks. Not a lot but hey every bit helps. ;)
sackman Posted October 30, 2009 #5 Share Posted October 30, 2009 Supershuttle or the red van shuttle work great. We got the red van shuttle for a family of 7 and it worked out perfectly.
Pam in CA Posted October 30, 2009 #6 Share Posted October 30, 2009 A taxi will probably not be able to handle four people plus luggage so you may need two taxis, which would make this option pretty expensive. Your best bet is to use either Super Shuttle (http://www.supershuttle.com/LA_airport_shuttle.aspx) or Prime Time Shuttle (http://www.primetimeshuttle.com/locations/airportshuttle_LAX.html). Both stop at the outer island outside baggage claim for each terminal so they are easy to find.
PookyCat Posted October 30, 2009 #7 Share Posted October 30, 2009 We booked ExecuCar for $48 for the two us - they advertise that you are the only ones in the car and that they don't load up the van like SuperShuttle does. This ensures that you aren't circling the airport on arrival waiting to pick up others and that you don't have to contend with others when trying to get from the ship to the airport on the day you get back. It's a little more than the SuperShuttle but WAY less than what Princess charges for transfers.

chisoxfan Posted October 30, 2009 #9 Share Posted October 30, 2009 We used Execucar which I believe is owned by Super Shuttle-they have shared van at per person, dedicated van at fixed price, and executive car at fixed price. We prepaid the dedicated van (apparently this is a newer sevice) and a driver showed up with a town car for the same price. Not a bad deal. I would highly recommend the executive car or dedicated van for four. With this service why waste money on a cab.
CimW Posted October 30, 2009 #10 Share Posted October 30, 2009 I booked Primetime Shuttle for our Dec cruise, LAX to San Pedro. $48 for 4 of us, 4 bags. They don't charge your credit card until the day you are on the van. Have never had any problems with Primetime. We have never used a taxi out there, we have been told it could run around $80. Agree with others, they might not be able to fit all of your luggage in the taxi.
CimW Posted October 30, 2009 #11 Share Posted October 30, 2009 I forgot to add, our van is a shared one. We have been on the shared vans and they are fine.
kendon Posted October 31, 2009 #12 Share Posted October 31, 2009 The Supershuttle charges per person and will give you a free "city tour" while dropping off all other passengers. As we were the last to get off, it added 2 hours to our trip which was very unpleasant. If the timing is right, say a weekend morning for traffic sake, a taxi is the way to go. Charge is per car load and can be SO much quicker.

bhopal21 Posted November 3, 2009 #14 Share Posted November 3, 2009 We also used SuperShuttle and asked that the van leave after the four of us got aboard. We had to pay a few dollars more; but we also got the driver to stop at a large supermarket before San Pedro so we could load up with diet tonic water. It was very convenient and allowed the four of us to travel on our time. Mike:)
ssbeagle Posted November 3, 2009 #15 Share Posted November 3, 2009 PS if you use discount code URY59 saves you a few bucks. Not a lot but hey every bit helps. ;) The SuperShuttle is the best way to go. It picks you up right outside the terminal building and takes you to wherever. Using the code above will get you a discount and you will have reservations for the return trip as well. This way you have no line to stand on when you get off the ship. The shuttle is already at the pier. When we took the shuttle to our hotel in San Pedro, he dropped off two people and then us. It didn't take long at all. From the ship to the airport we made no stops along the way. It was a straight shot.
donna5 Posted November 3, 2009 #16 Share Posted November 3, 2009 PS if you use discount code URY59 saves you a few bucks. Not a lot but hey every bit helps. ;) How much is the discount? Is it a discount per person or per van?
jayandmel Posted November 3, 2009 #17 Share Posted November 3, 2009 How much is the discount? Is it a discount per person or per van? May just be me, but I tried that code, and it was not valid. What is cool is that you can earn air miles from booking super shuttle or execucar online. We won't be going until May, but I can't see doing anything other than having the $48 private car. Even for just 2 people, it's worth the $15 more to go like this than be stuck in a cab or on a shuttle making 500 stops.
