Linda-E Posted October 31, 2009 #1 Share Posted October 31, 2009 are they allowing you to bring wine onboard in the ports? Thanks.
ClaireP Posted October 31, 2009 #2 Share Posted October 31, 2009 We were on board in september and my parents had wine taken from them at a port. You could transfer to a water bottle and carry through but they were being very efficient in this regard
nps001 Posted October 31, 2009 #3 Share Posted October 31, 2009 This is not cruise ship specific but an X policy. You are allowed 2 bottles at embarkation. After all, everything else is taken at security and returned the last night of your cruise. There is a corkage fee for bottles brought into the restaurants/bars not purchased on board. Capital Cruiser Posted October 31, 2009 #4 Share Posted October 31, 2009 I saw wine confiscated from a passenger at a port on the 10/10 Equinox cruise. He tried to argue that he had not taken advantage of the two bottles he was allowed to bring on at embarkation, but the security folks were not sympathetic. Linda-E Posted October 31, 2009 Author #5 Share Posted October 31, 2009 Thanks ClaireP and Capital Cruiser. I appreciate hearing about your Equinox experiences. I know the official policy. We have been on 13 Celebrity cruises and we have often been able to bring wine aboard from European and South American ports. Many times security has not enforced this policy. We are signed up for a Celebrity excursion to a Cava winery near Barcelona, but I'm going to cancel it if we can't bring the wine back to drink onboard. Even if you can't drink it onboard, you wouldn't still want to bring some home???
lucky0518 Posted November 1, 2009 #7 Share Posted November 1, 2009 We just returned and the answer is absolutely no! We winessed people trying several times and they were not allowed. 2 bottles on embarcation is the limit
