Future Cruise Certificate last minute booking?

Can I use a Future Cruise Certificate on a last minute booking? We are looking at booking a cruise that leaves in a few weeks but on the back of the certificate it says to mail the certificate in PRIOR TO FINAL PAYMENT. What happens if you book a cruise where final payment is due at booking, can these be used on last minute cruises?

was looking at a cruise that was to leave within a week of booking & my pvp told me I could use it. Didn't book the cruise though so I don't know if there would have been a glitch.

Someone else said they did and got a credit back to their credit card.

 

Be sure and mail it in certified mail as it states.

I called in on the final payment day and mentioned the certificate and the Carnival rep I spoke to said she would take the payment by phone short the $100 and to mail the certificate in that day and I wouldn't have any problems. I mailed it that day certified mail and checked the next week and all was well.

Thanks for the replies, so it looks like I can use them up to a couple weeks before a cruise. I will call and make sure before we book, I just wanted to find out others experience first since Carnival is good at giving different answers to different people.
