Travel to the Port

Anyone ever rented a van for a group to drive to the port ( We will be coming from south carolina, driving to Port Canaveral) and turned in the rental. So as not to pay the charge for parking at the port. Have the van rented for when you disembark. I am wondering if it is worth the hassle or if we should just drive and park at the port.

Price it out both ways- There was a discussion somewhere here not too long ago about this. Turns out it was cheaper to rent and park than two one way rentals.

Check the pricing. Sometimes a roundtrip rental with parking is cheaper than two one-way rentals. The one-way rental fee can be a deal breaker.

Hello,

The other problem is luggage. We went with another couple on a transatlantic, leaving from Fort Lauderdale. We had to unload more luggage than there is in a Samsonite store. First, from the airport to the rental SUV, then from the hotel's parking lot into the hotel. The morning of the cruise, exiting the hotel we had to load the SUV again. Fortunately the porters at the cruise terminal unloaded the SUV.

With six people and one SUV, you are going to have to police the number of pieces of luggage very carefully. I am not saying not to do this because renting a van does have some nice advantages...you are all together and may save ytou some money.
