Evening activites for 4 year old

Hi:

We are debating our next vacation as a family. We have one daughter, 4, who has travelled to Disney 4 times already and other smaller vacations.

Hubby and I love cruising but typically for the adult activites (casino, shows, lounges, etc...) We realize cruising with a child negates most of these activities. Our question is, what is there for her to do in the evening? We seriously doubt she will join in the kids clubs activites as she is very shy. I am not interested in a babysitter. So the three of us will be together for most evenings. What is there for us to do?

(PS: Having just returned from Disney, we are not interested in a Disney cruise. We'll be looking at the other mega lines - RCCL, Princess, NCL)

Thanks!

Tracey

You will obviously be restricted by her bed time, but there's really no place she can't go except for the casino, and of course, the late hours disco. But, don't give up on the kid's club. You might be surprised by how much she might like it. Have you considered the late night group babysitting? That starts at 10pm and goes until 1 or 2am. But, you can go to the regular show, the lounges for music or just up on deck. Most evening activities are centered around music, dancing and imbibing and I don't know of any regularly scheduled family activities at night. All of those are daytime only.

She will be able to go to most of the shows as if she's anything like my DD she'll love the music dancing and ladies in nice dresses, the only ones I suspect she may not like are comedians, mr and mrs and those sorts

My twins turned 4 on our last cruise (14 days). After our early seating dinner we went dancing in one of the lounges (we stayed off to the side to stay out of the way of adult dancers), went to the production shows (sitting in back and/or on the aisle in case we needed to make a quick exit) and there was also often an organized party (i.e., 50s night, country & western night, etc.) that the girls enjoyed and there were always other kids. Also, depending on the cruise line, you can go for an after dinner swim and enjoy a less crowded pool than during the day.

Best,

Mia

I'm taking my 4 year old twins on the NCL Epic next Sept for a week! Last year I took just my daughter (almost three at the time) for a "girls" cruise and we had a blast. She also enjoyed the shows, dressing up, dinners, dancing. We immediately connected with another family that had a daughter about the same age as mine, met up several times so the kids could play together. With the time difference she was even able to stay up later and we really enjoyed the shows.

my kids at that age stayed up very late on vacations-we always went to all-inclusives

the kids took a long afternoon nap and then showered for dinner and were ready to party. your daughter may surprise you- unless the show says "adults only" she will be able to go with you

also she meet a friend or two and happily go to the kids club with them to give you some adult time

play it by ear and have fun

Kathy
