AOS Excursions??? Which ones are the best??

Recommended Posts

Hi Sunshine! This is what I'd recommend:St. Thomas - Depends if this is your first time or not and how willing you are to venture off on your own. If your prefer a tour, Godfrey's is very cheap at $20pp. He will take you to town to shop for 2 hrs, then a 2 hr island tour, then drop you for 2 hrs on a beach. www.godfreytoursvi.com

If you are more adventurous, take a cab to Red Hook and board a ferry for St. John - the earlier the better. Then take a taxi to Trunk Bay - arrange to have him pick you back up for a certain time. You can rent snorkle equipment there (we bring our own mask and snorkle and rent the vest and fins). Then when you go back to St. Thomas, take the ferry back to Charlotte Amalie instead of Red Hook and shop a little before you take a taxi back to the ship. Here is the ferry schedule: http://*****/general_usvi/interisland_ferry/

St. Martin - Take a taxi to Orient Beach. It is so beautiful. Ask to be dropped at the Bikini Beach section - about mid beach. They are watersports for rent or you can just rent chair and umbrella and enjoy. Note - this is a partially nude beach. The full on naturalist beach is looking at the water to the right. They usually stay there, but you may see an occasional nude person walking the beach.

Antigua - Definitely Eli's trip is the best. He shows you all around the island - you stop at Bird Island and hike up to the top of the hill - fabulous view. Then on to Hell's Bridge for snorkeling. It was a memorable day and the food provided was wonderful.

Enjoy your trip - the AOS is a wonderful ship!!!

Sunshine -

Forgot about Barbados - we took the RCCL 4x4 Paradise Beach Excursion. We loved this tour! It was a tour around the island with a stop at Bathsheba & then a trip to the beach to cool off. It was wonderful and you're back on the ship around 12:30 which gives you a chance to chill out on the ship or go back out. Some of our group went to the beach The Boatyard www.theboatyard.com and had a great time. I was exhausted by this itinerary and chose to take a snooze in the solarium. We did Jungle Tours in St. Lucia and would not recommend them.

Overall - don't take more than 1 full day excursion. This itinerary is so busy. I would save the afternoons for relaxing on the ship whenever possible. We did 3 full day excursion, which was too much. This ship is wonderful, but with this crazy itinerary, there is not really much time to enjoy it.
