Sheraton Cable Beach Day Pass - cost for kids?

I've read other threads here where it says it's $25/pp for a day pass at the Sheraton Cable Beach resort, which sounds like a great deal for adults. Does anyone know the price for a 2- and 4-year child?

 

Also, do we need to book this in advance, or do we just take the jitney to the Sheraton and pay for a day pass once we're there. I tried to find out at the Sheraton's website, but couldn't seem to find any info about day passes to use the facilities.

my kids (4 and 6) were free. No need to book in advance. We took a cab from the cruise terminal, $5 per person each way.

We just came back NOV 8th. We didn't pay the $25.00 p/person.

We walked right into the hotel and out onto the outdoor pool area where the pool guy stopped us and asked us if we were from the ship.

He said "they charge $25.00 inside but I'll work with you" We offered $10.00 per person and he handed us two pool towels and we had a wonderful day there. I did post pics on this board ... "Just back"...

Day Passes rate as follows:

· Day Pass without room is $25.00 per person, $12.50 for kids, 12 years and under

· ROOM ONLY Day Use rate is $99.00 for 2 adults. Each additional person is $10.00.

· DAYLUNCH with Room is $145.00 which includes Lunch for 2 adults.

The beach and pool experience will cover cost for towels, chairs, umbrellas and NON-MOTORIZED water sports, equipment only

Day use rate includes Taxes and Gratuities .Day use rooms are available between 10a.m.to 6 pm, based on availability

The negotiations are easy !!!! They want your money..... You've got nothing to loose, worse case scenario is you pay full price. Its gorgous there, we'll worth it.

I believe it 3 and under are free.

Regular price for kids 3 and up.

 

They now give bracelets to all guests and those with passes. Too many people are sneaking onto the grounds, or paying off staff directly.

Without a bracelet you'll be asked to leave.

I saw it happen several times last weekend.

Glad to hear that they are issuing wristbands - its sad that people take advantage of a good thing by paying a discounted amount directly to the staff. We plan to do this in March and the $25.00 fee sounds like a good deal.

Did anyone comment on access to the Wyndham? I also think I read somewhere that for $40 per person, you can get a day pass at the Wyndham which includes their lunch buffet in the Casino.

I agree........not for nothing, but $50 just to sit on a beach is highway robbery! LOL Most Caribbean beaches are absolutely free and the most we ever paid for 2 lounges and an umbrella is maybe $20 and sometimes that even included 2 free drinks..............LOL is anything included in that $50???

Personally, i don't think $25 is high. You get a gorgeous, well kept beach that is raked several times a day and does not have glass, debris, wild dogs or vagrants. You have waters that are known not to have an undertow or sink holes, along with a life guard for your safety..

There's also pools, waterfalls, and swim up bars at your disposal as well as restrooms, towels, chairs, umbrellas and palapas. You also get use of the snorkeling gear and unmotorized sports.. for no additional fee.

 

Why would a resort want you to sit on their beach for free. They are in business.

 

If you want a stretch of public unkept beach... go to Junkanoo (lighthouse) beach and rent a chair and Umbrella ($20) and fend off the bums.

So are you saying that unless it's a private beach in Nassau, it's not a good or safe beach to be at??? That's really a shame!! This is our first trip to Nassau but if we have to worry about dirty beaches and fending off bums, it will probably be our last. Most hotels want people to come to their property so that they spend money on chair rental, food, drinks or buying something in their shops. Actually, I can name quite a few hotels that let us on their beaches for free. All we do is pay to rent a chair and/or umbrella. We usually also have lunch and/or a drink so that's how they make their money.

 

For instance, Palm Beach in Aruba is gorgeous and there's gorgeous hotels all along the beach. NO CHARGE to use the beach! We walk right thru the hotel lobby of Best Western in St. Thomas and use their beach. Again, we pay for chair and buy our lunch which is quite good. Also in Grand Cayman, 7mile beach is gorgeous and again by all the big hotels and no charge except for chair rental and you get a free drink with the chair rental.........LOL I can go on and on and name more islands if you like. One more that is great is in Cozumel. No charge for admission as long as you buy something to eat or drink during your stay and the prices were sooooo reasonable and food was delicious!!! So yes, personally, I think $50 just to sit on a beach is a lot of money especially for a family with a few children!

Why throw away $$ when there are beautiful free beaches? That would be silly, IMHO. We've been to 29 of the Caribbean islands over the years, as well as the Greek islands, Hawaiian Islands, San Blas Islands, etc., and we've repeated on them quite a bit. My point here is that there are plenty of beautiful free beaches on islands, and you can spend your money on other things.

Our grandsons were teenagers last time we took them there, and they loved it! Clean beach, clear water, and you rent chairs, umbrellas, pay for jet skis, pay for parasailing, buy drinks from the waiters who walk the beach.

BTW The beach is free. They make their money on all other things listed above.

Sea-cruise, thank you for the information. I'll jot that name down and do a google search for it to find out more information. All we want is a nice beach and Cabbage sounds like it will be fine, especially if it's next to the Atlantis.

Junkanoo beach and cabbage beach are public beaches, they are Not maintained, rakeds or cleaned, and they do not have life guards.

You can rent a chaise or umbrella at either ($10 per item, I think).

 

Junkanoo has a restroom and concession stands. Cabbage beach has no restroom but has locals selling rum drinks and water from makeshift bars and coolers.

Cabbage Beach can have quite an undertow and there are no lifeguards.

 

The public beach thing has been an issue for quite some time in the bahamas. The govt' has allowed builders to take over the beachfront, leaving very little beach for it's own people.

Yes, that has changed. You are supposed to stop at the front desk and pay for day passes. ($40 per adult/ $30 for kids 4 and over). This pass includes a buffet lunch, chairs, umbrellas, towels, use of pools and beach and lifeguards.. as well as restrooms, hot tubs etc.

 

Some still get away with sneaking in, but we also see cruisers being asked to Pay or leave.

It's a shame that some people do those things and then it makes it bad for the rest of us. You mean there's really a beach called Junkanoo?? I thought you made that up because it was junky......LOL I'm not sure what we're going to do in the Bahamas. We'll probably just wait and see what the weather is like. I think DH wants to at least go see the Atlantis and I'd like to go to a beach and see the Atlantis.

 

What exactly do you get at the sheraton for your $25? Also, is there snorkeling there? We don't need to use their equipment because we have our own snorkel gear.

I was at the Sheraton last September. The $25 Day pass gets you access to their facitity (beach, chairs, pools, towels & non motorized water toys). There are places to eat but that is at your own cost. The place was fantastic! Some of the pools have waterfalls. There is an artificial reef set up about 50 yards off the beach that you can snorkel at. Maximum depth was only about 5 feet, But still lot's of small fish. Great for beginners. When I was there, someone had told me that a boat stops by the beach every couple of hours and will offer a snorkeling trip for a reasonable price. You may want to ask around for aditional information on that. Hope that helps. I loved the place.
