Speaking of Platinum...

Now that I have a gold card with Carnival and I spend a lot of time on CC I was surprised by how many blue cards there were on my last cruise... :D

Maybe it is only 5% and that's why they never have anyone staffing the platinum line at the purser's desk! :p

CC is sort of a concentrated mix of cruise addicts and enthusiasts so it probably gives a false sense of how many people are platinum overall.

On our cruise last May on the Glory, it was 56 and the ship holds 2,974 passengers. The reason I know this is that all platinum guest get a free pass in either the slot or black Jack tournament and they have a list in the Casino and I asked.

FWIW, When I went to pick up my FREE slots tournament coupon in September on the SPLENDOR the casino employee had a list in his cashier's cage of everyone that was PLATINUM . . . there were 62

On the ELATION a month later there were 27

Do the math.:)

One must caution, this has little to do with HOW MANY CARNIVAL CRUISERS ARE PLATINUM, but quite specifically how many that were PLATINUM cruised on those specific Carnival ships those weeks. Statistics can be strange things. In other words, I'm sure there are a lot more that are PLATINUM that obviously don't cruise every week or even every year. A CD once told me that on any given Carnival cruise 47% of the passengers have NEVER been on a Carnival cruise before. If this is true, then there are a bunch of cruisers, considering those numbers that I posted above, that are on their 2nd through 9th cruise on Carnival. I certainly hope I'm not confusing you as much as I'm confusing myself. :D

There are probably PLATINUM cruisers who have died.

There are probably PLATINUM cruiser who have moved on to other lines, found a home there and cruise them exclusively now.

There are probably PLATINUM cruisers who have discovered other vacation venues that interest them more.

On and on ad infinitum.

I think that you are EXACTLY right, gargoyle. I know many people that cruise Carnival all the time that had never heard of CC. I also know of those that know of CC, many don't come here until a couple of weeks before their cruise. :)

I remember debarking on a cruise and the info delivered to our room stated for all platinum members to meet in the main show room on the ship.

When we arrived this area was full,I mean full ! Over a thousand

Platinum members

The lady told me I must sit in that area in the very back of the line . I went back up to lido and grabed a cup of java.

My point is every body and his brother must have been platinum on the ship . Yes I'm platinum .

:D

So I'm gonna say over a thousand %!

It was probably everyone who had early flights, VIP Suites, and Platinum guests.

Anyone who is in a suite is VIP ... but that does not mean that they are Platinum Members (10+ cruises) All VIP (suites included) get priority debarkation.Does that make any sense? LOL:)

Personally, I'd like to see a category for those who are platinum and only book suites. Doesn't seem "fair" that my Platinum from 10 cruuises in suites is the same as someone who crusies in a class 1 cabin. I'm thinking perhaps four personal porters to bear me in my litter when I visit the Lido deck?:D

Someone said in another post that pretty soon everybody will be Platinum. That got me thinking... what percentage do you think is Platinum on any given cruise? I never really paid attention in the past, but then I wasn't quite the addict that I am now. :)

You can find out how many Platinum guests there are when you go to the Casino to pick up your free slot tournament card. They pull out the list to check off your name.

On our recent Fantasy cruise, there were 18 Platinum out of 2000+ passengers. On the Conquest cruise we just got off of, there was 76 Platinum out of 3000+ passengers. That is a pretty low percentage.

That is because the person in a Class 1 cabin....may be spending $1,000s in the casino, or spending a lot of money partying or buying jewlery or on Spa treatments...while the person in a Suite did none of these things.

We have been on 20 cruises since Carnival implemented the Platinum card.

And number of Platinum cruisers on a particular cruise has been as few as 8 (4 of which was our family) and as many as 80 (best as I can remember).

Usually has been 30-50.
