Try wine boxes in the checked luggage, they don'r seem to get picked up by the ships scanners.

Last year we(2 of us) took 20ltr of beer on board a ship as carry on through Southamptonon no problem, does depend on the cruise line not checking the bags.

It is pretty hit and miss. Think I read somewhere that someone had an empty bottle in their case and they held the case until she went to open the case and show them.

Think it is the bottles that get picked up on scans. Box stuff, not so sure about.. but it's worth a try. At the worst, they'll just hold it until you get back off the ship.

Though one other tip I heard was to take an old empty water bottle, fill it with your booze, like gin or vodka, then take it on board. They'll think it's just water.

Not tried it myself though. Have nightmare visions of them asking me to try my water by taking a big swig of it!!
