stubbornoldowl Posted November 25, 2009 #2 Share Posted November 25, 2009 We had a great day there. Walked from the tender dock to the ferry dock and crossed to Helsingor, Denmark. We visited Kronberg Castle (Hamlet Castle) and other interesting sights (beautiful monastery) in the town. It is also possible to visit Fredericksborg Castle from Helsingor but we did not choose to do so.
bellagirl Posted November 25, 2009 #3 Share Posted November 25, 2009 Hi-We are interested in exploring Hamlet's castle as well. Can you give me some more information on which ferry to take and what you saw at the castle? Thank you in advance, Shelly:)
phabric Posted November 26, 2009 #4 Share Posted November 26, 2009 We took the Princess tour while doing the 7 day Scandinavia cruise July 2009 that included a short drive to the ferry, the bus goes on the ferry (you have to get off the bus), ferry over about 20 minutes, walking tour of Helsingor, tour of Kronberg Castle, ferry back, drive back to the dock. It was a very interesting tour. We still had time to walk along the water front at Helsingborg before taking the tender back to the ship.
Danish viking Posted November 26, 2009 #5 Share Posted November 26, 2009 All ferries are sailing to Helsingør so just choose the ferries with most comfort (Scandlines) or the cheapest (HH Ferries)
bellagirl Posted November 26, 2009 #6 Share Posted November 26, 2009 So,as I understand it, the ferry is a short walk from the tender dock? Can pedestrians go on the ferry as well or is it car-only? How long does the ferry take to cross? Sorry for all the questions! Then, when on the other side, how far to the castle from the ferry dock? Thanks again, Shelly
Danish viking Posted November 29, 2009 #7 Share Posted November 29, 2009 You can walk on the ferry via the train and bus terminal in Helsingborg. The crossing takes 20 minutes, and you will have to walk around 15 minutes from the ferry dock

starskyfan Posted February 26, 2010 #10 Share Posted February 26, 2010 Can anyone give an estimate of how much time one should allow to see Kronborg Castle, starting from the moment you get on the ferry to the moment you get back off? We will be in port from 11:30 to 6, but I’d also like to walk around the town and see the main sights there as well. I’m trying to determine if I might have time for both things. Of course, since it’s a tender port, it’s hard to say how quickly we will get off the ship and that could play a big part in our decision. Thanks so much, Brenda
