Bus vs taxi?

SOPOME

We'll be on Barbados in a couple of weeks. We want to visit The Washington House. From what I've read it sounds like the Barbados Museum and St. Michael's Church are both nearby. Can we easily walk to all three if we get dropped off by taxi or take the bus? From there we would like to visit a beach and enjoy a drink before heading back to Bridgetown and the pier area for some shopping. Does Accra make sense? How close to The Washington House is it? Thanks for some help on this!

We want to visit The Washington House.

From what I've read

it sounds like the Barbados Museum and St. Michael's Church are both nearby. ===> No.

Can we easily walk to all three if we get dropped off by taxi or take the bus? ===> No, but..

From there we would like to visit a beach and enjoy a drink ===> Carlisle Bay?

before heading back to Bridgetown and the pier area for some shopping.

Does Accra make sense? How close to The Washington House is it? ===> 2 miles?

Sounds like your best bet may be to catch a taxi to the Barbados Museum.

When you're done there

you can easily walk the shady half-mile to Geo.Washington House

(nicely preserved and presented!)

--and here's their water-filtration system used, at that time

and when you're done there...

walk down Bush Hill and turn right at the btm

for a short walk to Aquatic Gap,on your left, in about 50-100yds.

(where you'll be passing right by an excellent lunch opportunity at Brown Sugar!)

and thence quickly on to Carlisle Bay

..all three of them within reasonable walking distance of ea.other,

even if it's a hot sunny day.

Carlisle Bay!

In that Museum/G.Wash.Hse. area,

you're already on the right side of the island for a sub-trip out to Accra/Rockley,

but that's about 2 miles further up the South Coast!

If your sense of direction is OK (ask the locals to point)

you might catch an East-bound S.Coast bus somewhere in the vicinity of the Hastings Police Sta.

-but that's about 3/4 mile in the other direction from the Museum..

and thus make your way to Accra/Rockley/Chefette bus-stop ;)

St.Michael's church/Cathedral is pretty much right downtown Bridgetown,

- not out in the suburbs

as are Museum, Geo. W House, Brown Sugar, Aquatic Gap leading to Carl.Bay.

Hope this helps? :)
