guitarboy53 Posted November 27, 2009 #1 Share Posted November 27, 2009 Hi All, After our cruise on Carnival Spirit in February, we would like to check out downtown San Diego before our flight home. Is there a place where we can park our luggage before we head to the airport for a few hours? Also, before our trip, is there a place near the terminal where we can purchase a few bottles of wine? The alternative is packing wine in our checked luggage from Seattle. I would rather not pack a bottle of wine if I can buy some near the terminal. Thanks in advance! Splinter Posted November 28, 2009 #2 Share Posted November 28, 2009 There are no checking facilities for luggage at either the port or the airport in San Diego. You can check your luggage in at the airport no earlier than 4 hours prior to your flight. Your options for a longer visit would be to take your luggage with you (the Zoo will check it for you), rent a car and leave it in the trunk, or try to find a hotel with a nice bellman who (for a tip) will check it for you. You can purchase some limited selections of wines at the small store at the Holiday Inn on the Bay (right across the street from the pier) or the RiteAid drug store on Ash and Kettner (about 3 blocks). Otherwise, there are a few wine shops and a supermarket (Ralph's) in the Gaslamp Quarter if you want to take a bit of a hike, or a cab or the Trolley.
