CyndiNYC Posted January 11, 2005 #1 Share Posted January 11, 2005 Hi there, in less than 2 wks, YIPEE!, my hubby and i will be going on our first cruise. Our last stop is St. Thomas. We want to take it easy by walking around, sight seeing and shopping. How far from the pier is the shopping area? Are there things to sight see around there? How much is a cab from the pier to the town? ANY ADVICE WOULD BE SO GREAT!! THANKS SO MUCH!
dromMOM Posted January 11, 2005 #2 Share Posted January 11, 2005 Definitely check out Godfrey tours.. for $20 per person he first drops you to shop for 2 hours.. then takes you on 2 hrs.. of sightseeing.. Then he will either take you to the beach of your choice for 2 hours..or back to town or the ship..
CyndiNYC Posted January 11, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted January 11, 2005 Is there something we can do on our own. We don't want to be too far from the pier so we would prefer to do our own thing. Any suggestions.
alcpa1 Posted January 12, 2005 #4 Share Posted January 12, 2005 Cyndi, The best shopping is in Charlotte Amalie aka downtown. Depending on where you dock you are about a $3 per person jitney ride away. If you dock at Havensight there is shopping there. If you dock at Crown Point there is little to do. In either case you are in a small city with little to see close to the ship. We have been to STT 20+ times, and were just there last month. I do not know why you want to stay close to the ship. The island is full of vistas and beaches and definitely worth a tour. Have a wonderful time!
LindaKE Posted January 12, 2005 #5 Share Posted January 12, 2005 If the reason you are wanting to stay close to the ship is worry that you'll be left, consider booking a tour through the cruise line. With excursions booked through them, they wait to get the tour back before sailing.
CyndiNYC Posted January 12, 2005 Author #6 Share Posted January 12, 2005 The main reason for us to stay near by is because its our last stop before going home and the rest of the cruise is very port intensive so we decided to leave our shopping to our last port destination and of course take it easy. We do want to take a look around the city, do shopping, grab a bite and then head bk to the ship so we can enjoy the pool and spa before our last dinner on board. Thanks for the great advice!
