ubermama Posted December 9, 2009 #1 Share Posted December 9, 2009 We need a hotel in Fort Lauderdale for ourselves and another family we are travelling with in March. It's just for one night before our Carnival Freedom cruise. Don't want to stay at the cock-roach motel or break the bank. Any recommendations would be a great help. Thank you. Lizzzys Posted December 9, 2009 #2 Share Posted December 9, 2009 We need a hotel in Fort Lauderdale for ourselves and another family we are travelling with in March. It's just for one night before our Carnival Freedom cruise. Don't want to stay at the cock-roach motel or break the bank. Any recommendations would be a great help. Thank you. We cruised out of FLL in March and stayed at the Renaissance on 17th. It is literally right across from the gates to the port and has lots of nearby ammenities. (Walgreens across the street, port shops just a few blocks away, french bakery attached to the same building, lovely and delicious Italian restaurant across the parking lot) The hotel was great and had been recently renovated. We woke up the next morning to the beautiful sight of our ship through our hotel window!! The trolly ($1) stops right across the street and does a loop around the beach area etc. Water Taxi is right across the street. We won it on Priceline for around $100 per night but I think you could probably get a deal like that by calling the front desk. Cab was only $10 to the port, I think. (we could have walked, but with the suitcases etc., it made sense to take a cab) We would definitely stay there again.
Alegeeter Posted December 9, 2009 #3 Share Posted December 9, 2009 My friends and I are staying at Marriott's Springhill Suites in about a month. We chose it because it was a great price that included breakfast and transportation from the airport and to the cruise terminal (something we were definitely looking for when we booked it). Other hotels we looked at that provided the same services were: Hampton Inn and Suites at the airport La Quinta Inn - Ft. Lauderdale Holiday Inn Express Convention Center All hotels have pretty good reviews. They're great if you're trying to stay on a budget. The Springhill Suites is also right next to a mall with plenty of restarauntns and stores.
Rare Keith1010 Posted December 9, 2009 #4 Share Posted December 9, 2009 I would also go over to trip adviser and do a search. See what you can find that is within your budget. Keith
jazm2011 Posted December 9, 2009 #5 Share Posted December 9, 2009 Here's a second vote for Springhill Suites. We stayed in August and would definitely stay again. Rooms are large! Prices cheap. And free breakfast, as well as free shuttle (to port and airport) made it all the more convenient.
GORDONCHICK Posted December 9, 2009 #6 Share Posted December 9, 2009 Is Springhill Suites close to the airport or closer to the beach? We are looking for a place for 2 nights after our cruise. We'd like to not need a rental car but do want to see part of FLL before flying out. The nights we are looking at are March 20 & 21. We will have an 8yo with us. Would love airport shuttle &/or full breakfast if possible.

OntCruise Posted January 2, 2010 #8 Share Posted January 2, 2010 Are there any malls/shops/drug stores near the Springhill Suites?
