While not even remotely qualifying as "cuisine", a trip to Mr. Nice's Fruit Stand is always worthwhile. Not only can you sample freely of the fruits of the island, Mrs. Nice makes the finest coconut candy you will ever taste. The combination of cocoa bean and coconut candy is indescribably delightful.

My and the GF are major foodies, any recommendations to eat in town? must eats?

Dominica is pretty rural, rugged island. I don't think they have any gourmet restaurants or foodie type establishments, though I'm sure there's some great local cuisine if you're adventurous!

Would love any info on local foods ~ roadside stands, local restaurants etc. Thanks!

I'd like to recommend the local hot sauce which I bought at the IGA in downtown Roseau--definitely check out the IGA for local products like hot sauce, spices, teas, flavor extracts and handmade soaps. Nothing like the local grocery store as a source of local products. Don't remember the name of the hot sauce but it's made in Dominica. Got some last March and am looking forward to getting more when we're there in February.

I bought two bottles of hot sauce at the vendor's market when we were there in December. (Two different brands) Have not tried either one but they both look good. Just said the other day that I need to open them and see which is best so I can buy more next time we are there.
