My pre and post cruise mini review of San Pedro

We sailed on the Sapphire Princess on 11/28. Had a great time and wanted to thank all the helpful posters in this forum. We had a pretty seamlesss time getting to the ship.

We arrived in LAX around 3pm west coast time. We decided to use a shared van this time instead of a taxi. We ended up on Prime Time for both trips. No reservations made ahead, just walked up and got on a van. The trip out to San Pedro we were the first on the van so did circle the airport twice, but finally headed to San Pedro. We were on the van 30 minutes before we left, with traffic and stops it was another 45 minutes before we got to the hotel. At this point we were wishing we had taken the taxi, but really it was worth the $$ we saved.

We stayed at the DoubleTree Hotel and had a marina view room. We used our hilton honor points, so we totally got our money's worth at this stay. We enjoyed walking around the marina after our long flight and also the next morning. Walked over the the 22nd landing restaurant. The view was nice, food OK, I think we would have liked more restaurant choices that we would have had at the Crowne Plaza. But, we really enjoyed the marina view, so still happy with the choice.

We did have to make a reservation for our shuttle, so we signed up for 10:30 am and we were at the pier before 11am.

Thank you to Michael at "Off the Vines" wine store. We spoke several times and he helped me choose wines for our trip and deleivered them to the hotel. They were waiting for us at the desk when we checked in.

On disembarkation we again elected to use a shared van. Again, prime time shuttle was the first van we came too. This time we were the last passengers on, so the van took off for LAX. We were climbing out of the van with our luggage in less than 45 minutes.
